ParticipantI have been to Donovans twice and am pretty impressed. Made Outback look fairly unexciting. I can cook steak as well as Outback. Better, if I buy prime meat. My dad is 80 and loves steak. He’s eaten his fair share and then some. He said the T-bone at Donovans was the best he has ever had. I have to agree. Strangely, the carrots there are remarkable and the atmosphere nice but not stuffy. The filet was a bit flavorless. Go for flavor, not tenderness and you’ll rejoice. Don’t bother with the seafood. Better scallops at costco.
Never been to Ruth’s Chris. I suspect they are similar.
Theres a place in Tijuana called El Taurino. You can get a steak the length of your forearm for $10 (probably $15 now), including a margarita. It’s on 6th, I think, 2 blocks west of Revolution. Out of the way. Las Carnes in TJ is good, too.
Ask CDMA ENG. He know when it comes to food, I don’t mess around.
Rustico – I have a small framing project. You know any individual framers that could come put up some walls for me, per permitted plans? I’m looking for a good single framer (or a team of 2) that are short on work but also good and experienced. Looking for solid, not remarkable. Probably 3-5 days of work. If so, send to sdduuude a-t yahoo.com.
That argentinian place is nice, also.
The thing about steak is, a hole-in-the-wall isn’t going to spring for prime meat because it will put the cost out of the price range of their menu. So I think it is next to impossible to find a truly great steak anywhere but a high-end restaurant or buy prime and cook it at home.

ParticipantSeriously, one would have to hope that these people do this out of love – because they feel they can not adequately provide and feel their kids would be better off in others’ hands.
Note to self: don’t forget to mention the kids in the bushes to my kids.

ParticipantHave kids who misbehave? Show that article to them and maybe they’ll be a little more respectful.
