ParticipantA look at the index of leading indiators.
Probably not a good idea to call the bottom until this ticks up a bit.http://paper-money.blogspot.com/2008/12/follow-leader-index-of-leading-economic.html

Participant
The bottom is here or near. A single family home in a decent neighborhood will in San Diego will cost more in August of 09 than it does now.
Good post schizo. Stir up the soup a bit. If you look, you’ll find a post from sdr with similar thoughts about a healthy Spring ’09.
I’ll say that I won’t be shocked if this is A bottom, but I’m pretty sure it isn’t THE bottom.
I’m not making any guesses for Aug 2009 but I’d bet a single family home in a decent neighborhood will in San Diego will cost LESS in August of 2010 than it does now.
The pain train is one hell of a slow moving beast and all the gubmint efforts are just delaying the inevitable.
Think “ball bouncing down the steps.”

Participantsdr’s comments are very sensible, but between Mish and Rich, I find I don’t really need any other viewpoint.
They are thorough thinkers and I trust them to boil down alot of different perspectives into some pretty solid conclusions.
Not insulted one bit if you call me lazy.

ParticipantBy the way, schools in San Diego Unified vary wildly. There are plenty of good schools to be found there.
