ParticipantI’m not really up to date on Obama’s current definition of “rich”, but my best guess is $250K.
I have to say I’m confused by your concern about sustainability of income paired with buying a house to stem that. Unless you’re talking about paying (mostly) cash, that is. If you’ve been saving all that up while you’ve been renting, then good for you!

ParticipantIf craigslist isn’t working, I suspect your price might be a bit out of range. You’re also correct with regard to best time of year. This isn’t exactly it.
You can advertise with the U-T (print and on-line), The Reader, and MLS, but I don’t think any of those are as effective as CL.

Participant
I am going to escrow for a house in CV too.
I know that maybe it is not the best time to buy. But there will never be a “best time”.
I trust sky is not falling, and I should enjoy living in NOW.
Just do it!
I’d never advise someone to try to buy at the best time, but I’d definitely suggest they hold off during a bad time. Right now certainly seems like an uncertain time at best.
Curious what home ownership has to do with enjoying living in the now?
If you have the means, then by all means, but as always, I’d recommend avoiding compromise and stretching your limits.
