ParticipantI think Toyota has done it right. They have the boring, bread and butter line..aka Toyota, they have the classy line…Lexus, and there is the young hipster, mod-my-car line…Scion. Each is at least noticeably distinct from the other. Compare Honda and Acura.

ParticipantI would like to put all this in.
I want to do it as graphically as possible.
My first thought involves a Monopoly-like game board as the standard controls and background.
Color coded arrows indicate to where and from where money would go. ie if you searched a senator then his pic would pop up in the middle of the screen surrounded by inward and outward pointing arrows. To each arrow you can attach a thread among the other usual ways to find a thread topic.
This would also be done with agencies, grants, programs ect…I would add a section that allows viewers to suggest and vote on ideas to develop it (idea stolen from Ubuntu Brainstorm)
The biggie is how to get people to participate in adding new arrows (money paths). Get the community involved in developing the site so that my role is verifying info more so than finding it.

Participant
The banks are holding off for their own survival. RE values and the health of the banking system are inexorably linked. It’s the survival conspiracy. The trillion + that the Fed printed to buy MBSs is only a small drop in the bucket of total losses and every % RE falls makes it billions more.
Regardless of what we all have been led to believe, losses still matter to the banks.
In a way, they are waiting for a miracle.
At this point, the Obama administration has fully signed on to what the banks are doing. So his political health is directly linked to RE values as well. He missed his opportunity to purge the system early on. So, surely, he is cheering the withholding of shadow inventory as well.
So interest rates need to stay low until after Obama’s reelection?
And will the effects of the shadow inventory come to light? I guess that is a wild card. According to Dr. Housing Bubble about 57% of the second set of loan recasts will be in CA alone.
