ParticipantThe degree of luck that involves our lives is a factor we all have. However we also have the ability within us to enhance that degree through our own personality, effort, ability, etc. To not say well, this decision I made which was basically stupid, was the result of external factors to me is simply not acceptable. There were plenty of people who were much better off, and much worse off, who simply did not buy a home. Period. So to claim to be a victim of external forces, or easy opportunity, or the entire industry pushed you into it, or whatever you want to choose, simply does not wash. It was a choice, nothing more, and nothing less. For some it worked out, for some it did not. The relativity of luck in your life shouldn’t be an enabler for poor decisions.

ParticipantActually I have a client who wanted to see this home 2 weeks ago. We were going to visit it and that day were told no more showings. On paper it does appear to be a good deal. The listing agent told us they have a cash offer into the lender at that time with another solid backup. He could be bsing us. Not sure.

ParticipantWhat I think is that you have alot of issues going on and that you escape to post any and every event and thought that you have to avoid dealing with them. Seems like you spend more time posting then dealing.

ParticipantDesmond try not to change what you said. You wrote that the people who didn’t buy now are probably laughing. Nothing more and nothing less.
Let’s not retrofit your post okay? I know I am correct that those who did not buy are not laughing at all. This doesn’t mean they wish they would have bought. This doesn’t have anything to do with those who did buy and are living in or out of a mess.
Maybe you didn’t buy and you are laughing. I would tend to make a small wager with you that I know and work with alot more people who did not buy a home back at the peak then you do. They are mad as hell. Not because they did not buy, but because they are now getting screwed. They made the right choice, they know it, I know, we all know it. They foolishly believed the market would be allowed to move unconstrained. They didn’t know the rules of free market would no longer pertain to housing. So are they committed to their decision? Yes of course. Do they regret not buying? No they do not. Are they frustrated and pissed off? Yes they are. Are the laughing like you posted? No not really, they are not.
