Participantpri_dk I am not making an argument for anything. I am in favor of a smimple flat tax and I am in favor of a much reduced role of govt.
I believe that this particular party in power received a great deal of support based on helping those with lower incomes and who were less fortunate.

ParticipantNina if you put in a top offer but they were done accepting offers, how do you know your offer was the top offer?
Also alot of times people simply don’t want showings anymore. Anyone with a family and kids pretty much does not want buyers coming into the home.

What has been said is true though. However WHAT DO YOU GUYS EXPECT?
If the bank is going to approve a short sale, and if you are the seller, why would you continue to have people coming over to your home? The process sucks, you are missing payments, you are under stress, you have to move eventually, you probably have other credit issues… Honestly I understand the frustrations because I have them with my clients.
However to expect behavior contrary to human nature is not logical.
Now if the rules could be enforced better such that there is a stronger obligation to get the highest and best offer, it would be best for everyone. I think a mandatory 2 week listing time where people could see the home and all offers could be fielded would be best. The problem there is that you get people running bids up and then finding a home and walking away.
Either way it becomes tough.

ParticipantTom it is not possible to work through a bank directly. Banks are bound by privacy laws to only work with the people that own the home OR an authorized 3rd party that those people DIRECTLY instruct the bank to work with in writing.
Anyways, it is unfortunate what happened but you said they couldn’t pay the rent anyways so did that deal fall through or did it keep going? Was your offer higher then the other buyers?
