ParticipantNice try pr. I did not ask you what you feed your kids. Feel free to reread my post.
What I saked you was do you feed them the same thing day after day. The illustration was made to you or anyone who has kids to prove that feeding them the same thing day after day is not a realistic method of “coping”. Maybe you do though and maybe you don’t.
I will add one more question though. I believe that as the cost of basic food, water, energy fuel and services goes up, that the disparity between the haves and have nots will grow. That these conditions will create make it harder on our govt, not easier. I also believe that it will increase the welfare burden. While those with means will “cope” many will find it very very hard to cope. Those are my thoughts without making a personal attack on you (which I have not done) or Brian, (which I have done).
If you disagree that is fine, you want to present your case and I will debate it in a civil manner. If you do not want to answer the other questions that I posed to you then that is okay with me.
bg – I agree with your point and didn’t imply you were whining or could not cope. You do not need to point out the shortcomings of our govt subsidization to me.

Participantpr this is not about a poor me. I am doing well and will cope. You will do well and will cope. Many others will do fine and cope with it as well.
Many will not. You can cry a river about other people in other countries and how bad off they have it and they all do have it bad.
However to make a blanket statement that we will all cope with it is shortsighted. You know that. No we will all not cope with it. I don’t have to bring numbers. You know as well as I do there are plenty of people on the edge in OUR country. If you need numbers then go look it up.
Did I ever say poor me? Did I ever complain about myself or my family? No I have not.
When you grew up in Ohio and you had hard times tell me this:
How would you/did you feel if someone who was much better off then you made flippant statements about how you will cope, about how you should just go buy some oatmeal and stretch your dollar?
Would you be okay with that? Really?
D you have kids? You ever feed them the same damn meal every single day? You think they would like that? I don’t have to do that and will not have to do that but I sure the hell wouldn’t make a recommendation to someone who was not in my shoes to do that and they will cope and be okay.

ParticipantIt is all very easy to write about it BG.
Living it is another issue entirely.
If you think that people who post here including yourself are representative of lower income folks and those struggling to make it through life everyday you are sadly mistaken.
You hit a wall at some point BG. You run out of options and as the cost of living keeps going up you are screwed no matter how many packs of oatmeal you buy.
You talk about blueberries? Clementines? Most people who are struggling are well past the point of affording that stuff. When you have to buy ramen and potatoes you are starting to bottom out.
Obviously you are not getting it either. Many people are coping right now… and not winning the war. It is a slow spiral downward. As inflation continues to tick up there will be more and more and more people slipping into poverty and more people will become screwed. There hard to live lives will be much harder. There kids will suffer more. There will be a larger burden on facilities of welfare.
You may want to call this coping. People on this site will “cope”. Many people will be much worse off then just coping. It is not just about finding deals at the market and stretching the dollar. It is about a P.O.S quality of life, not a “coping” quality of life.
