Participant
For 500k, I rather get this: http://www.sdlookup.com/MLS-100011172-8025_Hagans_Cir_San_Diego_CA_92126. Spend an extra 5 minutes in commute, get much better property. The schools are about the same between the 2 areas.
Awesome finding AN! Nice yard. Good location.
SMALL bedrooms though, I can’t understand why they couldn’t have made at least the MBR bigger – at 2000 sf?! Still I wonder why it has been so many months on the market. Sounds like it’s a short sale or a REO though. I haven’t looked much at NW Mira Mesa yet, but when I did, I didn’t see many properties within our parameters, but the chances of finding here something we’d be happy with are better than UC, IMHO. One never knows, so we are watching multiple zip codes. PQ, MM, UC… and South Carlsbad πHow old are the houses in NW Mira Meaa? Any known common problems with their foundation/plumbing/etc?

ParticipantAbout western Mira Mesa – certainly we are looking at that too. The commute and prices are within our parameters. How are the elemenary and middle schools for western Mira Mesa, AN? (e.g. Calle Cristobal) I know the high school is good.

ParticipantAbout UC – we’d love to be able to buy there – the commute would be really easy. I don’t even have a problem with the age – IF the house has been remodeled/updated. And if it is one story, 1600 sf COULD be acceptable – depending on the layout and room dimensions – 2 out of 4 bdr should be pretty large, not 10×11. A Master BR of 12×11 for example is not acceptable. And we don’t want to pay HOAs (or MRs) of more than ~$100-200/mo. So we don’t exclude UC, but the chances of seeing something really worth buying there for 500K and good size – without spending extra 50K+ for remodelling are very slim. We keep our eyes open though. It’s just that inventory for what we want is slim.
