ParticipantBefore you submit any offers, drive around. I go downtown for lunch on some days, and I see LOTS of vacancies. I have heard some bad stories about condos downtown….people that can’t sell, unfunded HOAs, parking garages springing leaks, elevators that don’t work, and more. I guess it depends on the building.

ParticipantDon’t do it. If you do anything, get an SFR. I have lived around these parts for 20+ years. The neighborhood “gentrified” but is still the same neighborhood. It is trendy right now…but that will change, it always does.
Definitely do NOT buy a condo. There is a glut and tons of condo conversions. The condo conversions are mostly going belly up, as they have been slicked up with some granite counters and stainless steel appliances, but the plumbing and infrastructure is lacking.

ParticipantHey Scaredy….you have done the math backwards and forwards ad nauseum. So, lets say prices do go up eventually, you can always leave the house to your kids. Doesn’t that give it more value?
Also, you never mentioned the commute. I am assuming that is not a problem?
