It’s still too early for me to decide, but if I were to vote today I would lean towards Giuliani because he:* Is pro-choice:
That’s fine.* Favors school vouchers, so you can send your kids to your chosen school (I don’t have kids but if I did I wouldn’t want politicians to decide where I school them).
BAD. School vouchers create more privatization of taxpayers dollars. No different than outsourcing. We pay taxes, and then each individual can choose (using vouchers) the school. Problematic, many of these schools will operate outside of standards required by Public Schools. This means they can preach any kind of thing, and the teachers they employ, may be less qualified. As I have observed with federal contractors/outsourcing in the human services field, the workers are either entry level, OR worse, quite incompetent. The owners of the contract, keep the bucks, pay the workers poorly and poor benes. They have gold lining their pockets, and this makes school’s a FOR PROFIT institution. Thus, conflict is created.
I can tell you of a very big government contractor, who keeps getting more money. He runs ads wanting someone VERY overqualified for a position, but pay is SO LOW, that no one takes the job. So, the positions stay vacant, he keeps money (since he is not paying for the position) and the service recipients suffer. Our sailors in this case.
* Says we should do nothing about gay marriage. Seriously, why the f*** are we even debating this stupid issue? Another piece of fodder to distract the public from real issues. Other candidates (including RP) favor a constitutional amendment to ban it. Why waste taxpayer dollars? It’s like why not amend to ban, say, sex with crickets or riding horses naked after midnight? It’s nonsensical..
Agreed. This is not an issue.
* Is not sure if global warming is caused by humans but agrees that to be safe, we should look into energy alternatives including the expansion of nuclear energy. This should have been done LONG ago.
Agreed.
* Says states should decide their own gun laws.
That seems okay.* Wants a $7500 tax deduction so we can get our own health care.
Something tells me this smells like a rat (Marion can you help?). I suspect health care coverage will go up, so $7500 won’t mean much.
* Wants to expand/increase HSA (health savings account) coverage.
* Wants a border fence with high-tech monitoring and tamper-proof immigrant ID cards.
I could be okay with this.
* Wants to cut corporate tax to 25%
BRAVO. But will it REALLY happen?* WANTS TO ELIMINATE ESTATE TAX
Same as above.* Wants to cut spending on civilian agencies (I.e. contractors) to 5% of the budget
* Wants to cut federal employees by 50% (i.e. 50% less bureaucracy)
Make no mistake, he can say he is cutting them, but the money will go to contractors. I have seen it tenfold.

ParticipantOK, back to the mouse issue. Funny thread though, but it really decompensated in the later posts. Good gawd, cats vs dogs, what dress size Marion wears….sheesh! I loved the original post about the pot smoking though! I didn’t know mice liked to get high! LOL!
We own a house in the hood. SERIOUS mice problems over the years. And, yes, we have had exterminators. The exterminators set traps and come back and get them. You can do this yourself.
For us, we are happy to have good, clean, PAYING tenants, so we will do whatever is necessary. We have sealed the house twice. The mice come back. It is the nature of the game.
I live in a rental. Over the years, I get a rat in the winter in the garage. I set a rat trap and kill it. I do not notify the landlady.
Poison traps are ill advised. One, they are inhumane. Two, the rodents go looking for water and sometimes die in the walls. Smells REALLY bad until the mouse disintengrates.
There may be an increase in rodents due to the fires. Or construction/remodeling.
I think it is okay to notify the landlord, but have a good and pleasant attitude. Anything entitled and demanding does not come across well. It is better to attract flies with honey than with vinegar.

ParticipantWell, I must chime in! IMO, overall, the houses in City Heights are smaller and less descript. There are more of those really plain box houses. I don’t know of any streets in City Heights to mirror the streets of Pershing, Granada, Alabama–the ones near Morley Field. I also think City Heights is MUCH more dense with apartment complexes. I suspect that there was less regulations in the 70’s and many low income apartment complexes were built.
About 7 years ago was the Price Charities project in City Heights (Price was the Priceclub guy, then Price Club became Costco) and that helped to revitalize City Heights to some extent. The Albertsons on Fairmount was built, and that shopping center. That was something for a neighborhood that for years only had liquor stores and small food marts.
My friend and I bought a rental house in City Heights in 2001, and I can tell you the area has improved. It has NOT improved nearly as much as North Park has.
Drunkle, whereabouts do you live? I RARELY hear ghetto birds. Mostly people walking their dogs, and some neighbors know each other. No drama, no chaos. Though, that was different back in the late 80s/early 90’s when I lived near El Cajon Blvd on Alabama Street. I live just west of the 805 and south of University.
