ravinosParticipantThanks to all for the input as its quite informative as I begin prelim search and fact finding tour.
While reading the posts about areas and price points, remembered a line form the movie “Jaws” when realizing the challenge of the huge shark, somebody said: “We need a bigger boat”.
Starting to get the impression that if I’m to find an area and house that meets my requirements in North Coastal, I’ll need a bigger hoard of cash.ravinosParticipantThanks to all for the input as its quite informative as I begin prelim search and fact finding tour.

Near coastal would most likely be the choice. Seeking a bedroom community, with homes on large leafy lots with what I call “buffers”,(strict zoning, open space, golf courses, etc.),but also proximity to some “cosmopolitan” areas for dining, shopping, cultural activities, (La Jolla, Del Mar ?). Have no problem with older homes, location and lot size being paramount while McMansion cookie-cutter developments a no-no. Commute and fees a non-issue, primarily interested in lifestyle and surroundings/location, not just shelter. For purposes of comparison, currently live in North Scottsdale, AZ.,(if anyone familiar),which offers a few of the “environmentals” desired in SD area, but of course not as good as SD, in my opinion.
Thanks again.ravinosParticipantThanks,folks.
