ParticipantGood prediction, sdr.
As long as the govt pumps unlimited amounts of money into housing, house prices will continue to levitate well above free market levels, with ups and downs occurring as the spigots are artifically opened more or less. Predicting the housing market now relies more on predicting govt intervention in our economy than understanding market fundamentals (meaning market behavior in the absence of concerted govt intervention in one direction or another).

ParticipantThe public would complain if you gave each of them a bag of diamonds. Bernanke, for all the carping, is doing what the public wants – providing lots of easy money. It won’t take much to get him reappointed. He was probably just told he needs to do some of his own marketing because Larry wasn’t volunteering for the duty!

Participant
….its not “fair” trade and has led to a huge trade deficit. Those trade deficits lead to our national debt. Making stuff creates stable jobs. Is that simple enough?…
Let’s suppose that I give you a job. The job is to wash my dishes. I give you a nice piece of paper saying “Thanks Rt 66. I owe you:)”. Now let’s suppose I give you two jobs. You also clean my apartment. I give you a total of 2 pieces of paper, each saying “Thanks Rt 66. I owe you:)”. Finally, I give you a third job. You launder my clothes. And now I give you 3 pieces of paper saying “Thanks Rt 66. I owe you:)”. Are you better off as I give you more and more jobs?

ParticipantYou’re justifying your conclusions by saying they are true, and I just haven’t heard about it. That’s not a convincing argument, except perhaps for a kindergartner. Goodnight.
