Enorah, I always knew that you and I were kindred spirits 🙂 My partner and I have also decided to move to Ojai (or Carpinteria) in a few months. It is most definitely time to leave L.A. And we, too, are being called. Ojai/Carp is close enough to L.A. to allow us to visit and allow me to tele-commute a few days a week until I am laid off after my contract expires in March 2011. Ihave no bloody idea how my company will survive until then, but if they do I’m getting paid 🙂
We’ve got an organic garden all planned out in our minds, and we have our eyes on a few houses on decent acreage with large back yards and plenty of room for our son and dogs to romp. I don’t think folks are going to adjust easily to the coming *changes* this year, and my sense is that it would be prudent to be around fewer people than more. A peaceful place in the country will be priceless. Perhaps you and I can hang out when we get there!

The house and senate combined have a payroll of about $94M annually. We blow through that amount of money every 15 hours in Iraq alone.[/quote]
Precisely. Based on those numbers, it’s doubtful that we would sending more troops.
Actually, I read this weekend (can’t remember which newspaper) that it essentially costs $1 million per annum to support each soldier.

partypupParticipantAdebisi, you’re wasting your time with this crowd. Let them cling to their flammable pieces of paper and take comfort that gold is going back to $500/oz.
The frog in the pot of slowly-boiling water won’t even attempt to jump out until it lacks the energy or strength to do so. But by then it will of course be too late. And so it goes for the vast majority of posters on this board. Attempts to enlighten and educate will only fall on deaf ears. I had once hoped that if enough Americans were armed with the truth then we would be able to resist the brutality that awaits us. But it looks as if the government plan to lull and soothe naive and compliant Americans into a false sense of security is actually working.
As one friend recently told me, anyone who hasn’t woken up by now will NOT wake up until the end game is here.
Sadly, poverty awaits most. They will literally be too poor to rebel.
