ParticipantWe have covered the commute issue in the past, but I’ll provide my perspective as someone who has been commuting from Temecula to RB for (5) years.
It’s not awful, but the 56 would be my absolute southern limit.
It takes me anywhere from 35-45 minutes each way, I commute from Temecula Parkway (79 South) to Bernardo Center.
It helps to carpool which is what I do, so I only end up driving about once per week – saves me loads of $$.
I also think the commute will continue to improve with the work that’s being done from the 78 on down.

ParticipantIt’s all so shocking….I am right now holding in my hand a sales sheet I picked up yesterday (Friday 1/18/2008) from Stan Pac titled “Our Best Deals”
Only the address is different:
Plan 4, Lot 3 4519 sq. ft. $608,986
A 90k difference.
I may actually be able to buy in Redwood after all….
I was thinking that Stan Pac may not lower their prices much if they already figure they’re going down in flames anyway.
Stan Pac is apparently selling land holdings:

Participantbearvine: That Elementary school you speak of is open and seems really nice. That being said, I do think the picture you paint is a possibility.
I live in Paloma del Sol, so I am not acutely aware of what’s going on around Wolf Creek. I always had my doubts about the area because of the casino, Wolf Creek seems nice but like you said it’s all new.
I am not convinced though that the City will allow Wolf Creek to become a red light district (my words). Police patrols in the area are frequent, the houses are generally large and I see a lot of families in the area.
I guess to date I have not noticed that the casino has had a big impact on Wolf Creek. Although I suspect that Pechanga will continue to expand to the east of the main complex.
That’s why I always thought Stratford (Centex) was in a pretty good location as compared to Wolf Creek @ approx. 1.5 miles away from the casino.

ParticipantTG: Laurel has about 6-8 houses under construction right now, but I agree I’m not convinced that Stan Pac can finish.
We almost went for that 6 month deal in Laurel – using the 6 month window in case we were not able to rent our current house in a hurry. We were going to get a 3000 sq. ft. house for around 357k, but the taxes were what scared me away at the time.
I’m surprised Redwood is still selling in the 600-700k range.
Right across the street @ Sycamore they are selling 3300 sq. ft. houses for ~380k. And yet Redwood is selling the approx. same size house for 100k more.
