Don’t allow Hyundai, Kia and Daewoo to become the next “Big 3.”
Daewoo hasn’t sold cars in US for decades…
There’s no chance Hyundai/Kia will become the next Big 2. What’s Toyota/Honda gonna do? Sit around and suck on their thumbs?
Point taken. But who knows what the future has in store?
Americans have a penchant for el cheapo products regardless of value. Cue Wal Mart.

Well, you won. It’s official.
Well, jeeze, Allan. That’s awfully magnanimous of you.
Whew !
Guess I can stop beating my chest and declaring how American I am now.
So, folks. As you may have heard, America’s economy is in the toilet and we are still losing more jobs every day.
General Motors, once the largest and arguably most respected corporation in the World has gone thru bankruptcy and no one knows for sure if it will ever recover.
We have just hit our largest budget and trade deficit and, well, you probably know the rest.
It took a long time to come to this point and I don’t think too many feel it will be anything but a long time to recover from it. Things looks pretty bleak and even the new Admin is having a tough time sorting it all out.
So what can we as Americans do, in some small way to help out ? By continuing to gorge on imported goods and allow our manufacturing base to decline into oblivion?
If you think that might not be the way to go for the foreseeable future, given the cards we have been dealt or dealt ourselves, then I have a teenie-tiny idea where to start.
Join me in asking Jeff Bridges, the very popular and respected celebrity, to take a stand by dumping the very successful Hyundie ads he is involved with and come back to pitch for the home team.
I realize the economic woes are not his fault. And he does have the freedom to make an honest living just like anyone else in the U.S. of A.
And, by jeepers, I really, really like the guy.
But we could really use his help right now, today, before things get worse.
This is just a very, very small step to give the controversial American auto industry a bit of a leg up, deservedly or not. Right now, it doesn’t matter why it happened; just how to fix it.
The free market is not always the only solution. It’s not protectionism. Or socialism. Or any of the other unacceptable labels. It’s just common sense.

It could be yours, a neighbor’s or a family member’s job who is at stake next.

Paddy: You’re quite right, I’m nearly caroming off the walls in a fit of self-righteous anger.
I can honestly say that I’ve never come up against an opponent quite so rock ribbed and steadfast as yourself.
Allan. Is that you again ? You are almost zombie-like. A character from the movie “Night of the Living Dead.”
You just keep on going, not realizing you and your point of view on this forum died long ago. You’re feasting on the brains and entrails of others now.
I would assume Scarlett/Rt.66 got tired of out-witting you and your anti-American rant. I believe she went to joust verbally with someone who, unlike yourself, does not appear to be unarmed. She long ago bested you with her well-articulated arguments backed up with concrete facts. She may lack my intestinal fortitude.
So, my friend. Keep my paycheck coming and take a moment to ask Jeff Bridges, a well-liked American with freedom of choice, to check out of the Hyundai ads and do some pitching for the U.S. of A.
Here’s a new site for you to do my bidding:
You are the keeper of the past. Don’t let history repeat itself by letting Hyundai become the new Honda.

Paddy: It’s not vitriol. These are simply observations that have come from life experiences.
I guess I’m a little old-fashioned in the sense of expecting folks to have a work ethic, be somewhat stoic in the face of adversity and learn to adapt.

EEhhh (buzzer ringing )Off point again Allan.
This post is about asking Jeff Bridges to dump the Hyundai ads.
You just lost two more points and you were already running a major deficit. No bailouts on this forum.
Don’t need no Saltpeter. You are wasting valuable time.
Go here and re-group.

Wow, someone sound desperate. Sounds like those Realtors in 2007 harping “it’s a great time to buy”, hoping sheeple will follow them.
Sorry. Off topic again Allan. You have run out of chips and, thanks to Rt.66, your point of view died about 20 posts ago. It’s just the nervous system keeping you alive now.
Your only option to stay in this game now is for you to come up with a POSITIVE SOLUTION for the future of the American blue collar worker that does not require him or her to settle for third world wages.
Find serenity here:

Time for Jeff Bridges to bail out of the Hyundai ads. Buck forty nine a gallon gas for a year ain’t gonna cut it. GM wins.
