    they spent $1.3 billion just on the I-15 carpool/express lanes, and the usage is minimal at best. as much as I am a rail fan, I just don’t see high speed rail as a good use of resources here.

    think about the population density in Asia and Europe and how they have “real cities” there, that’s why high speed rail makes sense there.

    the status issue is a much bigger issue regarding La Jolla and RSF. Carmel Valley is still just “upper middle” to me, much in the same league as Scripps and 4S/Del Sur.
