ParticipantI was listening to “The Market” on 89.5 KBPS and they said with Bernanke’s new “openness” policy it became evident that no new rate cuts are going to happen and that the last one was close to not happening. Anyone else hear this?

ParticipantI went to all three SD Mazda dealers (Escondido, National City, and Hotel Circle). John Hine (hotel circle) had the exact model, color, and features I wanted in a car that had never been even test driven before, based on the odometer reading. I don’t finance and they seemed so happy to accept payment in full that they didn’t even give me BS about the price I wanted, they just gave it. They usually do that “let me talk to my manager” thing.
Jeeze, I’m starting to sound like I work for John Hine. Anyway, I love the Mazda (or perhaps this is just my self-affirmation a la AAngel). I also liked the Honda CR-V a lot and am kind of sad to be selling it after 10 years (I really need to get a wife).

Participant5yes your post cracked me up and is right: I know for a fact that if I had children my mother and my 12 siblings will be sending truckloads. I live alone and already I get a room full of kitsch every holiday. I think college money is the best gift idea ever! Gotta send some for my niece now.
I also heartily accept SDR’s viewpoint although it is different than mine. I don’t have children but will one day and I can already see that my ideas for raising children are radically different than those of most people I know.

ParticipantRampant consumer alert!
Decorating isn’t for the baby. It’s for you! I’m sure you think all those toys are stimulating your baby but really they’re just creating more product dependency. You don’t need all those things! What the baby needs more than anything is stimulating interaction with parents!
I know dirt-poor people who have brilliant children. I went to college with a 12-year-old classmate from such a family. His genius had nothing to do with brightly colored toys nor bouncy twirly whatevers.
