Participantman he was funny and intelligent. I usually don’t even like stand-up comedy but with him it’s totally different. It was anyway. Farewell!

ParticipantI agree it’s a great age and I also agree that boogie boarding will be the thing. My niece loved that when she was 12.
Watch out for sting rays, tell him to shuffle his feet in the water. We have tons of the little buggers, I was stung, it sucks (putting it very, very mildly). Snorkeling is great too, you can get the whole ensemble (snorkel, mask, fins) for $30 in a bundle at Sport Chalet.

ParticipantIt also depends on how much you put down. If interest rates are high but you have a bigger down payment, with a lower price you get a bigger chunk of equity up front.

ParticipantZoo is depressing. Go Wild Animal Park! Go snorkeling! Go to the new Children’s Art Museum near the convention center! Take him to see the Midway aircraft carrier and all the jets/subs/ships you can tour over there then go for soft-serve at Seaport Village! I also like the pier fishing idea or you can go deep-sea fishing for about $60 per person including all gear, cruise, and licenses. You will see all kinds of great stuff out there. Or rent a jet ski! Those are super fun.
Better yet, print out this thread and let the boy choose! Let HIM teach YOU how to have fun!
Lastly, the wind has been great lately. Go fly a kite!
