ParticipantLOL, California is addicted to something for nothing.

For too many, the solution is another program. Obviously, the paramedics should treat the person’s gout in his home. Right?, no. The paramedics shouldn’t be envolved.

Participant
FWIW, we paid over $18,000 in taxes last year, and will be paying ~$650/month in property taxes every month on top of that (which is the primary revenue source for those wretched public pensions).
As much as it often seems we are not, we actually are quite similar. I too pay roughly $650/month in property tax. I don’t recall if your house was transfered from your parents or if it’s a outright buy. From a tax roll perspective, we live in houses of roughly equivalent value. Probably similar socio-economic neighborhoods.
We aspire to the same things for our families. We want similar opportunities for our State and it’s people. We have differing views on how to accomplish that.
I have another 15 years or so to go (on top of the 25 ish already working) before ‘retiring’. At that time, I’ll be able to generate a sustained income from my ‘investments’ that will provide in income, that will roughly equivalent to the income today that would generate a $18K tax bill.
There is one major difference, our income tax, it is several mulitples of yours. That doesn’t include the FICA taxes or others, just income.
In the need for more taxes discussions, all the proposals are about increasing my taxes.
Doesn’t that seem incongruent?

Participantres ipsa loquitur.
the double dipping, the air time, the number of $100K plus retirees that are quite young speak for themselves.

Ironically, that’s why I say we need to turn the democrats loose in California with a 2/3rds majority.
IOW, tune in next month to see the future written in Greek.

ParticipantI was thinking LLC or C-Corp. I think the LLC is taxed like a LLP which in turn is still taxed like an S-Corp, just more forms.
As for our rate, I don’t know it. I know the rough amount, and I’ll stop there because the raw dollar figure is just RAW…

ParticipantActually UCGal, you’re close. If he hasn’t, he needs to spend the $700 to incorporate out of state. Contract through the corporation and pay himself and meager but reasonable salary and have the corporation distribute the bulk of his earnings as dividends for the stock he holds in the corporation.
(Note, I’m not a tax attorney so you need to verify)
And I would suggest getting much more serious but deducting your business expenses and identiying them as such.

ParticipantSince we’re still carrying losses forward are effective rates were higher than yours.
It will be the last year of loss carry (hopefully). Currently sitting on unrealized gains but things could go south.
We installed new hvac and heat with tax credits. Installed a 7.5 kw solar syste
With credits but still higher rates than you.The only we can dO is make more. Or have my wife quite her job as a syste
Engineer. It’s truly sad. She’s and engineer and if we consider her income at the marginal rate, after payin taxes and the nanny, little is left. If brown raises taxes and Obama rolls taxes back it will literally. Oat us money to have her workAll typos are mine and my iphone

ParticipantYou ran a red light. It is that simple. A yellow light means the light is. Hanging to red And you should do so unless unsafe. It does not mean ‘I think I can make It before the red, go!’
Simply said you were racing the light which is actually one of the most dangerous things out there

ParticipantRocket science: one Venti caramel frappucino – 81g of sugar 510 calories.
Or 2 large apples, a giant 9 inch banana and 2 medium oranges, 81 grams sugar 465 calories.
The first is mindlessly slurped down by most on their drive to the office, the second, most would feel stuffed if eaten in a single sitting.

ParticipantThe only thing this case is good for is highlighting the old saying, point a finger and three point back.
It’s also highlights, the spin intent of the media.
It’s gotten so bad, even the LA Times is reporting on the media bias in the case and how skewed the reporting is depending on what source you are listening too.

Participant
I would be happy to pay that. Once you get over about 100K you stop paying SS so this doesnt seem like such a big deal to me if it actually helps bring health care to all. Unfortunately in the most wealthy country in the world not everyone can just head off to the their drs’ appointment.
I mind that. If it’s health care for all, then all should pay.
If all paid, it might be only 1.3%. Or more like 1.9% since those affected pay roughly 48% of income taxes.
Also, I’m really sick of the thousand cuts. It’s only a percent. and a percent. and percent. and percent.
So Obama’s ‘millionaire’s tax’ starts at $250K too. yea, Millionaire…
This tax starts at $250.
Jerry’s tax starts at $250.
with another at $300.
and nother at $500.
We should have universal healthcare. We should have ALL paying for it.
