flyerinhi – I was thinking of switching to redfin to get their discount but it never occurred to me to contact the listing agent directly. That does sound like the better thing to do. Thanks for the suggestion!
September 23, 2017 at 11:18 AM in reply to: controlling buyer-agent’s commision when selling #807963newdadParticipantMy experience as a potential buyer has been that my agent is there to let me into a house and then do the paperwork if I decide to write an offer. This not to say that he is incompetent, on the contrary he is a very knowledgeable and professional guy to work with. But I would think that increasingly, many people no longer rely on an agent to get the scoop on a neighbourhood or the general market etc. So it does kind of make the buyers agent somewhat redundant.
On the other hand, since purchasing/selling a house is going to be the most expensive transaction for most people , I do not think we are going to see a pure peer to peer market either.
newdadParticipantWell, you do get more sq ft of home on a smaller lot that way. Don’t have hard stats about how common these are but looks like that’s where houses in San Diego are headed to in the future 🙂
Though I wish the ground floor had the kitchen and the top two floors had the bedrooms.

These do have three floors. You climb up some stairs from the road outside and enter into the “middle” floor. The master bedroom is one flight of stairs further up. You descend a level to get to the bottom floor that has more bedrooms and the garage.
newdadParticipantThanks for the very helpful input Michael_g_Brown. Much appreciated!
newdadParticipantThanks cvmom. I was indeed thinking of the portion that is right next to Carmel Creek school. The portion that is demarcated between McGuire drive and Carmel Country road.
I have driven/walked around there on different days/times and it sounds like a quiet street with the occasional car going by (except when school starts/ends). Just wanted to see if others in the hood think likewise or if it was just a coincidence and I ended up always being there during unusually quiet times.
