ParticipantOur favorite is Harry’s Pacific Grill, which is in the new area of the Mall.
Great service, exellent steaks and faux-Polynesian cooking, great bar.

ParticipantIf your work depends on being close to San Diego I can’t help you, but if location is flexible why not Temecula?
I know — the San Diego snobs will be shooting me down in the next post — since Temecula has grown too fast, has traffic problems and is hotter than the coastal areas.
Now that we are past that, you should be able to buy something quite nice between 300 and 500k, and the schools are excellent. The Temecula Children’s Museum is brilliant, and there are many services relating to recreation and education.
I have lived in both Temecula and Murrieta and really think there are many good aspects of these communities for families.
Okay San Diego folks, have a rip at me for even suggesting this.

PS: and by the way, there are many well-developed areas here with recent, fire-resistant homes away from canyons and hills that are likely to burn.

ParticipantWell if you were to ask me…
$305K? Nice job!
I would go through with it.
If it really is a house you want to live in for at least ten years, then you can ride the market down a bit if that happens.
Do you have $20k left for the sod, patio cover, drapes, and extras?
If you have granite fever down the road, you can add those for perhaps $5k.
Who knows, the market here may be about to get a boost from folks who dealt with fires south of this area and who suddenly find Temecula/Murrieta more appealing.

ParticipantJust a quick political ad:
Mt. San Jacinto College urgently needs new Board of Trustee members. Just yesterday our vice president resigned.
If you live in Murrieta/Temecula, please visit this link:

If you live in the Redhawk area of Temecula, please support Greg Barker in his race to unseat Gene Kadow:

ParticipantI have lived briefly in the Redhawk area of Temecula, and now live in Murrieta.
I like both areas, but between the two Temecula has better city government. Both areas have great schools though.
I would look in the more established areas of Temecula around Hwy 79 and also the better parts of Murrieta.
French Valley? A definite no for me. The traffic and access problems, not to mention the issues created by too much development too fast have put me off that area.

ParticipantI know nothing about ushomeauctions, but I do live quite close to the one story listed on Lincoln, starting bid of $189,000.00
That is quite a nice home, and if you have kids the local schools are excellent.
I don’t see why you shouldn’t attend the auction and keep your bid card up into the high $200k zone.JS
