So there is a journalist headed to Nebraska Sunday night, now all we need is CA and NY and we will be ready for full scale pandemic. The media will be reporting Monday that the pandemic has doubled in a little more than a week, the markets will fall and hysteria will prevail. I hope the journalist, Ashoka Mukpo, can be saved for his sake and ours.
Ok just CA now, who will it be?
moneymakerParticipantMy first thought was the same as mike92104, but then after thinking about it for a while, I know plenty of beautiful people that are poor and quite a few rich people that are overweight/ugly. So it’s probably more genetic/discipline attributes, not to say that money doesn’t attract beautiful people, just that it doesn’t make one beautiful. P.S.- Scaredy I think Temecula has lots of beautiful people too!
moneymakerParticipantIs it time for you to refi again flu? I think the cutoff should be 680 fico score, honestly. I think ability to pay is important. Personally I would not have loaned me money when I bought in 2009 (with a fico in the 750 range), but I’m glad they did, 3 times in fact (2 refi’s). The government is printing money by virtue of extending credit. All the T-Bills are loans to themselves.
moneymakerParticipantI believe the industry norm is 2 months wages for the ring. I believe I paid $5500 which was about right at the time, got a little over a carat and it was what she wanted. Don’t remember what the wedding itself cost but I do remember it being pricey.
moneymakerParticipantI’ve often wondered if companies like Walmart or Costco use the info on how much is donated at their checkouts to gauge whether it is feasible to raise prices, in other words to directly measure their customers apparent discretionary income. Costco seems to be doing well lately which tells me they didn’t really need to raise membership fees, but they did anyway.
moneymakerParticipantSo did the Spainards test the dog or are they just dog haters over there. If it is transmissible by dogs then that is very bad, probably would be transmissible by other mammals as well.

moneymakerParticipantGold is below $1200, maybe I can afford it now. Silver and Gold! Hi Ho! Hi Ho!
I’m officially a whole sale buyer of gold and silver now.moneymakerParticipantI agree with you doofrat, I think it may take a while. Inflation however would speed it up. My new strategy would be to buy a mix of gold/silver. By buying 1 oz. of gold with 20 oz. of silver one would not have to pay sales tax in CA and the buy/sell expense would be cut down to 5%. It would still have to go up 10% in order to make 5%.
moneymakerParticipantI almost bought some yesterday below $17, but didn’t really know the ins and outs of buying. I now know about sales tax and how much over spot to buy, not yet sure if buying is a good idea if have to sell it below spot as well. Seams like it is a lot like gambling where the only sure winner is the house (broker), do they call them that because that’s what they make you?
Just found out for a 10 oz. bar it’s $1.25 to buy and $.75 to sell that’s a total of $2 commission out of $17, that works out to 11.76%. Yeah, not really a good idea for me!
moneymakerParticipantSan Diego Coin and Bullion charges $1 an ounce over spot for the 100 oz. bars, anyone know of a better value? Isn’t it illegal to destroy money scaredy. Never mind, just looked it up, guess it is ok here as long as fraud is not involved, it’s illegal in Canada however.
moneymakerParticipantIn my experience most people roll the red at right hand turns and also when crossing trolley tracks. It’s like shooting fish in a barrel for law enforcement. Once got a ticket in New Mexico for same thing, it was one of those sneeze and you missed it towns, thing that pissed me off about that one was they (local enforcement) had intentionally covered the limit line with sand so there was basically no limit line. Would have fought it but the fine was small and did not count against insurance so I let it slid so to speak.
moneymakerParticipantMy Q-See 524 only uses 24W for the DVR and makes absolutely no noise. The cameras probably use 36W, so the whole system uses maybe 60W. So that would be $15/month in tier 4 or half that in tier 1 rate. For me it’s tier 1 since I have solar now. The average person doesn’t even know how to login to their router so they would need someone to set it up for them.
moneymakerParticipantI agree with “carlsbadworker” in general, but to say that joe/suzy six pack buying an inflated home is a misallocation of money is a bit harsh. Stupid, yes, but not to be looked down on, just a very valuable lesson learned I would say. What bothers me the most about our economy is that we don’t have a good economy. How long can we keep scratching each others backs before someone has to go out and hunt down some food. Yes that was a caveman reference, this is not a new problem. Our country needs to wean itself off handouts (cheap labor) and stand up for ourselves and make worthwhile products. We are being bullied by the state with too much bureaucracy.
