ParticipantWhen I was looking at it as a possibility seems to me that the interest rates on VA loans were almost always higher particularly when rates are going down. The VA rate is determined by bonds sold by the state and they will sometimes sellout and not be available for a month or so. Actually I guess I’m thinking of the CALVET loans. Anyway I personally decided to go conventional and now with rates even lower maybe if I started with a higher rate I would be refi’ing right now. Like the market it might just be a crap shoot!

ParticipantThe ethical thing to do is bring the situation to light with all involved parties. Unfortunately many laws and regulations have no teeth unless someone is willing to take the perp to court and herein lies the problem. Many people will not risk court for the principle, unfortunately. DA would probably not consider going after them especially with you out of state, unless s/he has other complaints/cases. Keep us posted on the outcome.

ParticipantYes don’t pay the fees,”if you are sure they are not mentioned in your lease” and make them take you to small claims court. The only thing second to thieving credit card companies is scumbag landlords.
