So you support a flat tax?
No, a flat tax does not reflect taxes proportional to the share of the economic pie.
So you want to tax people based on what they already have rather than income?

Taxes should not be proportional based on population, but is should be proportional based on the share of the economic pie.If you go dutch to a restaurant, each person does not pay the same. Each person pays according to what he gets. If you get the lobster and wine, you should pay more than the person who only gets a salad and water.
Now THAT’s a Straw Man!

Otherwise quit being a crybaby.
Ah, the “Reichsminister Dr. Josef Goebbels Express” has arrived right on time and spewing its usual load of toxic spew and vitriol.
Pri, I ordinarily ignore you because you contribute absolute nothing to any of the various topics on which you “opine” and I use that word loosely, mind.
You cite erroneous “facts”, or change the meanings of words when caught out, or simply discharge ad hominem when you have no argument at all. On the last point, interestingly, you’re the first to cry foul when someone responds in kind, usually because you’ve driven the discourse, such as it is, into the toilet and pissed them off with your cheap tactics.
My point is here is simple: I refuse to add you to Ignore User because you’re simply not worth the bullet, but I’m also not going to respond, so take a hint and toddle off. You can save yourself an immense amount of time and not have to pen any more long-winded screeds to me.
Your obsession with me, which was weird before, has now moved into completely creepy.
Right!? I’m surprised you’ve waited this long to respond. So strange to have someone single you out with a constant rant about how you never take a side or make an argument when, from what I have seen, you’re one of the most consistent people here. I’m completely amazed at the idiots that believe the Dems are some sort of heroes for the people that will save us all from the evil GOP which is trying to enslave us all. The simple fact is this: Politicians from both parties simply want to line their pockets with other peoples’ money. The Dems want to do it by taxing everyone in the name of “fairness” and the GOP wants to do it limiting what they have to pay in taxes.

Participant

… I’ve made more than a few ski trips in a Miata. Hardtop, snow tires, ski rack slung off the trunk, and I was actually PASSING idiots in SUVs.
Lol, spdrun … back in the day, I made a few ski trips in a 280Z with the same kind of roof rack and it handled VERY well in the snow with just snow tires! However, we never had to put chains on.
When the chain law is in effect, I have to put on my cables. This has happened to me many times in the sierras. One time, I had to put them on and take them off 3x before I got all the way thru the sierras (US 50). This is time consuming and not that easy to do properly in a storm and/or in the dark on a car that doesn’t have very much clearance between the tires and wheel wells.
I’m tired of this routine and want to get away from this requirement.
Sounds like you need a Subaru. My girlfriend and I got caught in a snow storm driving thru northern Arizona/NM. People in front and behind us were spinning off the road all over the place. My little Subaru never lost traction.

You need to have practical experience using all the types of navigation system to understand why they exist….
I’ve had good and bad experiences with both Android and dedicated nav devices. I try to have a real map handy.
When driving a lonely highway through a remote forested area in northern California with no cell signal, the Magellan couldn’t get a GPS signal and stopped functioning, while the Droid X continued to operate (its nav had been activated back when there was a cell signal). I can understand the Droid working, but I don’t get how the Magellan would fail in the same circumstances – unless the Droid lost the GPS signal too but didn’t care and didn’t bother to tell me.
In the city, the Magellan once in a while routes me to turn where no street has ever existed. Data issue, I guess.
On the way to Palm Springs recently, the Droid never found a satellite in an hour of searching. Tried restarting, uninstalling map updates, etc. We did NOT have a real map (too reliant on tech!) and so had to find the address using only cell phone tower locations and wild guesses, which only added 15 minutes to the drive, but still, that was 15 minutes of drinking time.
Every Android update to my Droid X degrades its performance or otherwise screws things up.
These are awesome. I use one when I’m flying along with my android tablet.

Participant
im only afraid if I don’t buy a new car I’ll have an accident and get hurt.
I promise not to regret holding on for any other reason.
The Accord is a good car. My girlfriend has a 2000 model which has never had a problem. She had it in the shop for a day to get the brakes serviced, and they gave her a new accord to use, and that thing was damn nice.
Go for it. It may be a new purchase, but for a car, it’s a prudent choice.

ParticipantBTW, thanks for turning a simple question about the cost of an Optician into a political thread. I wonder if it’s time for another conversation about banning you.
I apologize to all the other Piggs for taking the bait to begin with.

ParticipantScaredy, how about a compromise. Go out and find a sweet newer used car. Besides the economics, there is an environmental aspect to the decision. Keep that old beater running is probably better for the environment overall.

ParticipantI buy my readers off the shelf for $15. I have a pretty simple prescription, so the readers you see on display at Rite-Aid work fine for me.

ParticipantIt’s been said in different ways, but I think the main difference between the uber- successful and those not so successful is the ability to recognize, and sieze upon opportunity.
One thing I am sure of is that they didn’t sit around and bitch about people having more money then them, and spend their time trying to get the government to take it. Instead, they went out and grabbed it for themselves.
