Remember that the current bailout was a Bush-Paulson-Bernanke-Geithner creation. The AIG giveaway to the French bank, SocGen, was a Republican deal.If you don’t like the bailout, you should punish Republican lawmakers first.
First of all, your President and his Democratically controlled congress threw good money after bad and passed the almost $800 billion stimulus plan…despite enormous Republican opposition.
Geitner is Obama’s Treasury Secretary…you can’t blame him on Bush.
And I’ll certainly hold any Republicans responsible who voted for either the stimulus OR the bank bailouts.
Sadly, it is obvious that you will do nothing of the sort.

The New Deal is what put money in the pockets of millions of Americans, enabled unprecedented economic expansion and made the corporations even wealthier.
The modern consensus (I know how much you global warming liberals love to trot out that word) among those that have taken a closer look is that FDR significantly prolonged the GD through his many actions to ‘stimulate’ the economy.
The GD really didn’t end until the US entered WWII.

“The fact that the Depression dragged on for years convinced generations of economists and policy-makers that capitalism could not be trusted to recover from depressions and that significant government intervention was required to achieve good outcomes,” Cole said. “Ironically, our work shows that the recovery would have been very rapid had the government not intervened.”

ParticipantI know Mikey from years ago when he first came to SD; he was good friends with a girl I used to work with.
I’ve never thought much of his personality or his show. He fit right in with the other dipshits on Rock 105.

In my view, America needs to keep-up by allowing nearly free immigration so we can grow our population and our economy. Sure, our existing citizens will have more competition, but we will bring wealth and liberty to millions while strengthening our financial (and military) wherewithal to spread our ideals.
The majority of immigrants over the last 20 years are working service sector jobs, not in capital producing industries. They will weaken not strengthen the nation through increased demands for government services; services that their contributions to the economy fall short of paying for.
This is a recipe for disaster.
