ParticipantYeah, IMO now is a terrible time to be in bonds since rates are only going to go up. Equities are also dicey since I have a feeling that we are in an exuberant bubble–there are still problems with our economy that are being ignored by the market.
I’ve been keeping most of my new retirement contributions in cash..MM rates are low but so is inflation so at least I’m not at risk of massive principal losses. Until some more things shake out in this market I’m not comfortable piling back into the market.

The term “Ponzi Scheme” is thrown around an awful lot these days, and generally in an incorrect context.
Social Security is definitely a ponzi scheme.

Participant
But I like the top tier wines. If we could figure out a way to get in to Sea Smoke that is where we would spend the weekend.
Having a Sideways weekend with my best and oldest friend. Great dinner plans too. Original Hitchin Post in Casmalia, Ballard Inn and Bradley Ogden’s restaurant in Solvang (Root 246).
Golf at LaPurisma and some oceanfront course in Santa Barabara.
Did we miss anything?
Sandpiper is Santa Barbara’s Torrey Pines. Great course.
The Rancheros are in town this weekend. Always good for some entertainment.
Here’s some local events if you need something else to do:

I’ve never had any Sea Smoke wines. They must be relatively new. I grew up in the SYV and have been returning there to visit family for 20 years. I always spend a few days making the rounds of the wineries when I make a trip up there and always come home with at least a case of wine.
