Participant“Methinks somebody else parrots a certain political wings media when using terms like “liberal elitist””
That’s funny because I rarely engage in the media that you speak of. I can’t stand Hannity anymore since he is an unabashed apologist for GWB and mega dittos for Rush and his cheerleading for this administration.
But I love it how you use the same sad and tired retort that is used commonly as a defense for criticism of Clinton’s policies, “Well, Bush….”

Participant“I hope none of you speculated over there in significant amounts.”
Ironically, I put some money into a SE Asia Index fund last year. Towards the fall, it and my Janus fund were the only two in the black. Everything else was in the red.
Fast forward a few months and that SE Asia Index fund started tanking. I was planning on getting out before the Olympics anyways to try and capture some of the gain before the expected post festivities market decline but I couldn’t hold out that long. I decided to cut my losses (didn’t feel like it would be coming back up anytime soon) and dump it last week.
Fortunately, it was only about an 8% loss of a small investment.

Participant“we all have the right to our own political views…but then she spewed off a bunch of nonsense, uneducated crap about her misconceptions…”
Frankly, you sound like a typical liberal elitist. If someone doesn’t side with your political opinion, their views must be nonsense or crap and they must be ‘uneducated’.
Let me ask you, have you formulated your OWN opinions or do you just parrot the crap you hear on Air America, The Daily Kos or MoveOn.org?? If someone gets you off your ‘message’ can you continue to have an intelligent dialog or do you keep steering back to your talking points?
Please think HARD about these questions before giving in to your ‘need’ to educate anybody politically.
If I were you, I’d just avoid political discussion altogether.

I’m in the zilch category as well. There will be no stimulating for me. Of course, the ginormous tax bill I just paid will certainly help to stimulate some of you…
And I agree with Navydoc, as someone who lives life on pretty much a cash basis (only debit is car and house) I would have just spent the money since I don’t have any ‘consumer’ debt to pay down. C’est la vie.
