ParticipantHow about this? We start treating health insurance like car insurance – you pay for your oil changes and basic maintanance, and if you get into an accident or something major happens, you are covered. Health insurance should be for the catastrophic diseases…you pay for the coverage for the big ones…cancer, accidents, etc. You would get one check-up per year. Any colds, fevers, small injuries you pay for, and when the big one happens, you pay a deductable, say $10,000, then all is covered. There would be an incentive for you to stay in good shape, less money out of your pocket.
Second we take medical students who want to pay off their student loans and match their payment to the loan company if they spend so many hours working in not-for-profit public health clinics one or two days a month. That would provide health care for the indigent at low or no cost and help med students pay off loans faster. What say you to this?

And you think taxes are bad here, wait ’til you experience the big apple tax bite…about half your income goes to taxes, not to mention tolls into the city, places to park the car, etc. etc. etc….

ParticipantThanks, all, for the imput…The area I am speaking of particularly was The Belsera Development. Wow, a lot of short sales, people in trouble. We drove through that area once and could not believe how unkempt some of the yards were. Weeds everywhere! Now I know why, they were mortgaged up to their eyeballs! I myself would never live on a golf course, you get pelted with errant shots, have people searching for lost balls in your yard, wake up to people cussing as early as the sun rises and yelling up until sunset.

ParticipantI just drove through there today while waiting for my son’s wrestling practice to end…I was following several cars into Del Sur, I thought “wow, a lot of people going that way.” But alas, only one car turned into Del Sur, the rest were avoiding the I-15 traffic by using Camino Del Sur, which now goes all the way to Rancho Bernardo. Not a lot going on there, though.

ParticipantSD Realtor,
Those attacks occured in the oldest section of PQ, that adjacent to the 15 freeway, most in the condos closest to the freeway near the office depot. I believe that there is a lot of section 8 there.
You rented on Buckwheat, that is a busy area. We live two miles further into the canyon past Park Village ES. I have been tracking the PQ area for a few years, I usually plug in 4 br 2 ba and the ebb and flow has been anywhere from 30 to 75 homes on the market, this week it has been upwards of 50, I suspect it will explode this summer. I see many homes currently on the market that are listed on the foreclosure websites as well, they are soon to be REO’s. I personally saw three FC’s on the same street, one sold short, one FC and one probably financed their way out. In the same neighborhood, I see a few more NOD’s. It will get better for those of us looking, but I think the fall will see some serious correction. What do you think?

ParticipantPS., Donaldduckmoore…check out how many foreclosures are listed for PQ (realtytrac.com area code 92129)and you will notice that there are many distressed properties in this area, prices are likely to come down in PQ, we are waiting patiently…
