ParticipantI recommend do a little due diligence first to determine what’s broken. “Broken” could very well mean a $10 fuse is blown.

Participant$18B is probably just the beginning. There will be lawsuits from individuals, class-action and probably even from states themselves. I am curious how California is going to react to this, especially with its strict emission controls policy.

ParticipantBottom line, if this bunch is the best the GOP can offer then republicans might as well save themselves the trouble of voting for a loser and just stay home.

ParticipantI am holding out for something like Tesla Powerwall.

Valley Center is east of the 15. Carlsbad is on the 5.

Participant
Itsdd, I’m interested how you will control the dampers.
i never had them but would like to.
FIH,
If you’re referring to the central ac, they are two separate units controlled by two separate thermostats – 1 for each floor.ltsddd
Participant

I got two units, a 3 and a 4 ton 13 seer R-22, installed by one of the companies the OP mentioned for $6K even. The house was pre-plumbed. I picked one of the cheaper brands that they carried. The coil runs a bit noisy, but when the ac is running I have no business being outside so that has no effect on me. As for the efficiency, I didn’t think I would use it enough to justify paying for a more efficient one.
BTW., I would seriously consider the wall-mount single room ac if I didn’t already have central ac. I think the single room ac is much more energy efficient – cool the room you’re in and not the entire floor.

ltsdd,
You had duel ACs, right ? How old were the AC units when you replace them ?
Did you replace the furnace also ?
The house was bought pre-plumbed for AC but I didn’t have AC installed until about 7-8 years ago.
I think they’re dual ACs – two separate coils/fans outside, two separate copper lines feed into two separate condensors(?) that they installed in the attic. Two thermostats, one for each floor.

ParticipantInteresting article:
http://www.latimes.com/science/sciencenow/la-sci-sn-united-states-mass-shooting-20150824-story.html
“…the association between national firearm ownership rates and number of mass shooters per country showed clear statistical significance”
“Behind the United States’ top spot, Finland and Switzerland rank third and fourth, respectively, in per-capita gun ownership. While both countries enjoy vaunted reputations as safe places to live, both (along with No. 2 Yemen and No. 5 Serbia) ranked in the top 15 countries internationally for mass shooters per capita.”

ParticipantMajor Asian indexes are all down big. China’s leading the way down 7.5%. It’s getting ugly. Let’s see how the US markets going to react.

ParticipantGive them some goodies to bring back to the nest/queen. The Terro liquid bait (the one in a bottle) have worked really well and cost-effective. Don’t get the ones in a tray/station.

I do think bg probably has a point. Just about half of clairemont’s properties are assessed at less than 200K. The average selling price price for a home in 92117 right now is 500K+ from what I can tell.
Up until the late ’90s, most SFH in clairemont (3/2 or 4/2, 2-car garage) valued below $200K. I would say that 50% of the houses exchanged hands in a period of less than 20 years is quite significant.
ltsdd, Prop 13 is over 37 years old, not 20 years old. And even houses in 92117 which are currently assessed at between $200K and $300K could have been purchased more than 20 years ago … especially those homes with permitted room additions or second stories.
20 years ago was 1995 and it cost more than $200K to buy many homes in 92117 in 1995, especially those homes located within the “Bay-Ho” subdivisions.
Hence, “most” homes valued at less than 200K.
