Participant
This was in the news this morning:
I’m wondering if CO’s Medicaid expenses have risen substantially yet due to its recent legalization of recreational MJ (incl “edibles”) …
CO Medicaid expenses rose substantially due to Obamacare. It would be impossible to know what small percentage increase could be attributed to the legalization of weed. Although it won’t surprise me if the anti weed lobby doesn’t try to put together some kind of report attributing the rise in Medicaid expenses as being directly related to the legalization of weed. With the report totally ignoring all the new Obamacare signups. That’s how things are done these days unfortunately.

Participant
This isn’t the government, though. The team is subject to NBA regulations if it wants to do business with the NBA (play against other teams in the league). I suspect that he signed some sort of morals clause when he bought the team and kept it part of the league.
What if it was the HOA. You belong to an HOA it comes out that you said some particularly nasty things about a gay neighbor. Does the HOA have the rights to fine you. Force you to sell your house if 75% of the members vote you out.
I understand the NBAs reaction, they needed to appeal to popular opinion. The problem is it becomes a slippery slope. How long before the NBA owners don’t like Mark Cuban’s comments about something and force him to sell.

Participant
Can I refuse to do business with a client whom I dislike personally? For sure.
Well as long as that client isn’t gay.

My other thought is: what if this is a setup to devalue the team and get it sold. He might be known for rants in private. Get him set up with someone who’s close enough to push him into ranting, tape it, then “leak” it.
I honestly think it pushes the value of the team up. I think there will be numerous competing parties that want the limelight of the hero that bought the Clippers from evil Sterling.
The only problem I have with this issue is this idea that the masses can force you to sell your property. We have property rights and property laws in this country and if we erode those rights because we don’t like what someone said it could be bad for all property owners in the future. Do you want the government forcing you to sell your rental property because the masses don’t like what you said about a tenant.

ParticipantShould be more listings and more sales during the spring. Inventory going up means there’s probably too many overpriced homes for sale.

ParticipantThis guy is a former lawyer and will sue the NBA into the orbit of Mars. If he wants to keep the team I’m pretty sure he’ll exhaust all his legal options and still be holding the team when he dies. The best strategy from his perspective is to name a really high price i.e. > 1 billion. Then the pressure is on the NBA. If they want him gone they better help a buyer come in and buy at that price.

ParticipantThere’s always hard money, but seriously it might be time to walk away from this convoluted estate sale you’re involved in.

And that action tends to be deflationary. Better technology and efficiency let you do more with less input labor/energy. If you increase production without increasing costs through technology the natural outcome is lower prices for those goods.

Participant
phot back trading again, down sharply. I may buy again…
I’d probably give it a few days to stabilize. Usually in an event like this there’s panic selling then a brief bounce and a retest of the lows over the next few days.

Participant
Again, put up the fence and let bygones be bygones. Install a drain where their off flow is irritating you. My wife has a great saying, “Don’t engage the crazy”. I simply remind you to not become the crazy people avoid engaging with.
I’d agree put up the fence, install a couple security cameras on your house facing this property line and ignore your dipsh!t neighbors. Sending a threatening letter about suing them probably isn’t going to make things any better and nothing is probably going to change their attitude towards you. Leave them alone and hope the fence does enough to prevent them with screwing with your property in the future. If they do do something to your property when you’re gone hopefully you’ll catch it on the security camera and then you can sue for damages.

ParticipantPool pumps are high energy users. Installing a newer higher efficiency pool pump is going to get the most bang for your buck. Your old pool pump might be taking 50 KWh per week if you’re running it 8 hours per day so each hour it’s running would be about 0.9 KWh. A newer one might be closer to 0.3 KWh.

Participant
I think the reason we haven’t had this inflation is because our money supply is not on our shores. A lot of it is overseas and hence not really part of our economy at the moment. If all that money were to come pouring back (and it could) then we would have the expected inflation. So the question is when will we no longer be considered a safe haven to other countries? As soon as the rest of the worlds economy starts to recover in my opinion. Which, also my opinion, will be slowly and steadily. Assuming no unforeseen calamity we will have steadily rising inflation until all the hourly workers are poor.
Money and credit spend the same. You need to look at money supply plus total credit outstanding. Credit is far bigger than the money supply and has been growing much slower than the previous parabolic advance. Unless we get really loose lending standards and a bunch of people taking on new debt I don’t expect to see much inflation.

Participant
We are also going to be sending them a demand letter to stay off our property or we will sue.
Can’t sue them for trespassing. You can call the cops and have them arrested for trespassing. Only thing you could sue for is property damage that they commit against your property. You’d also need fairly substantial evidence to win. I.e. you’d probably need video evidence of them committing the act or a third party witness.
