Participant“Did they drop the Mello-Roos?”
I noticed that today on the signs as I drove through the neighborhoods. They definately had them, a friend of mine went shopping for a house a few months ago, and was quoted mello-roos. Got me thinking(those signs) I might just be looking into them after all. How many of those million dollar homes have been sold? Just about ALL of them have unobstructed views. No neighbors either infront or either behind.

ParticipantWhat gives? 2 people in a week commenting on Santee’s new housing?
HMMM? Anyway, we have all been talking about Sky Ranch out here, in my neck of the woods,a little lately. There is a fantastic view overlooking the airport. I didn’t noticed that you could see all the way to Point Loma. The homes are beautiful and there is a non-stop breeze up there, but be careful not to drink and drive, that is one scary road to manipulate sober.

ParticipantI believe that’s exactly what the Santee city council is trying to do. I vaguely remember sometime ago reading something about developing the area with golf course homes, and they are building that big sports park. (Not to mention all our neighborhood parks.) This all sounds like the stuff they have been doing in other building boom areas. They have been trying to get in move up housing for years. They have been saying people have to move out to move up, that we have plenty of starter homes.
The large majority of folks on this blog feel Santee is nothing but a big hick town. I however grew up here, and have been raising my kids here. I think Santee is the perfect place to put in roots and raise kids.
The condos on the west end were put there after the kmart went out, it was building boom time and the city changed the
zoning from business to residential. They couldn’t get Fanita Ranch passed so they snuck in houses/condos in every available spot imaginable. 1100 or so homes, while people were distracted focusing on Fanita. Now we have new building at every school in the district, with plans to modernize every school. New media technology centers, libraries, and for the first time actual jr high schools 6-8th grad being built. Santee has always had k-8 schools.
We were told that the new Fanita Ranch area would have new schools, but now the school enrollment is so low, the district says they don’t need it. The kids will be going to 2 different (already existing)schools.
