LOL!
You’re not in the market for special size shower curtains? How about plus-size aprons? Body bags?
lindismithParticipantStartingout,
You can do a search for “ucla” and find a bunch of posts on their past forecasts.lindismithParticipantThe phones have been very quiet all month at my manufacturing plant. Just this week however, I’ve had some really good inquiries.
I haven’t let anyone go yet, but if it keeps up, I will.
Haven’t noticed anything unusual at the grocery stores, etc. Then again, I try to avoid the malls, and movie theaters.
And, all my friends in construction are still busy, and employed. In fact, my parents are going to start a major rennovation on their home in Scripps Ranch in the next few months, so that will keep a few more employed.
From my perspective, things look pretty good.
I won’t lie though – my quiet phones have me worried.
lindismithParticipantShane,
That’s great if he set’s aside the tables again, but tell him not put them in a big square, because we want to be able to move around, and talk to each other. Maybe it’s best if he just leaves them like they always are, but puts reserved signs on them.
Belinda.lindismithParticipantPerry,
I lived in Playa for 8 years. I lived right down on the sand in the area called The Jungle. It’s the last affordable beach front property. The homes are all duplexes, so you can live in 1 and rent out the other. It is a great area to live in because of the community – everyone knows each other, and the weekends are about playing volleyball down at the beach. I think it is a great place for kids too.
In my opinion, Manhattan Beach is too homogenous, and Marina Del Rey is too cold (it has a feeling of old, tired, something’s-not-quite-right about it).
Check out Trolley Way, and see how much the homes are selling for.
If you work on the Westside, you can take surface streets to work. Plus, it’s easy to get to Hollywood up the 91 and over to La Cienaga.
The only downside is a little riff-raff on summer weekends, but I alwas quite like that. It’s not for everyone though.lindismithParticipantJust letting you guys know I should have pricing on t-shirts next week.
check out the Yahoo group, posted earlier in this thread. People are voting for slogans on the Tees.
oh, and forgot to say we should just meet at the same place as before, because some people are not single and can’t go to bars…. 😉
Meet at:
Today’s Pizza and Salad.
They are off I-5, Santa Fe Exit, on the west side of the freeway in the Vons/Rite Aid shopping center. If you think you are going to come, add an RSVP of “yes” to this so we can give them a head’s up that a small group is coming!
lindismithParticipantI’ve asked this question a couple of times too. So far, no one has been able to tell us.
lindismithParticipantI am also shopping for a new tax advisor. My current firm is in Sacramento, and while they’ve done a good job in the past, my business needs someone closer.
If anyone would like to make some recommendations, please post them here, or email me at [email protected]
Emails will most likely go to my junk mail, so please put “Piggington” or something similar in the subject line. Thanks,
Belinda.lindismithParticipantI’ve found friendship takes work.
About 4 years ago, I decided to travel for a year. When I left, my circle of friends fell apart. They told me it was because I was the glue. A compliment, but a reality check too.
People are very busy these days. I do a lot of volunteer work for Surfrider, and while I always forward the event details to friends, few of them show up. I wonder what they are doing with their time? Are they going out to eat, watching tv, shopping or perhaps doing errands?
MyDogs, I’m glad you made it through your ordeal! Sounds like you learned a lot. I hope to meet you at our meet-up! So far, I’ve been really impressed with everyone I’ve met through Piggington. Can’t wait to see what else it brings.
Belinda.
lindismithParticipantIs there anyone on this board who has not moved to cash?
When I spoke to my financial advisor about it, he put the pressure on! He has been giving me a really hard time about getting out of my mutual funds.
I would love to hear the argument for staying in or getting out of my mutual funds.
lindismithParticipantThat loss is crazy!
I did an exercise the other night – checked the first 10 condos in my area to see the purchase price, and what they’re now listed for. It was very interesting, with 50% now listed for their 2003/4 purchase price. I’ll post the details later tonight.
I think this is going to get so ugly.
lindismithParticipantyes, that is a very good point about auctions.
And Perry’s right – why is she being held to a different standard? We all know a soft landing happened last year. How come some these industry people are still predicting it? How come we’re not outraged at them?
I think Poway’s writings are witty, and I like that she pushes the envelope. I think a lot of very good discussion, debate and analysis amongst us has come from her writing. On the days she’s not on this board, it gets boring.
I don’t take anything she says personally, and I’m not offended by it. I am not a home-owner, so perhaps that’s why?
lindismithParticipantI think it will happen here.
Look at an area like Encanto, where homes sold for half a million bucks, purchased with crazy loans, by people who make minimum wage…. There is no doubt in my mind that areas like that will see trouble with a capital T.
lindismithParticipantybc, I guess we could move it, but you’re asking a lot of people to move for you. Can’t you get away for just 2 hours that Saturday? Work with us here.
