ParticipantMaybe check out the rental comps in the area using craigslist or ask other renters in the complex what they are paying…Try to see if your new rent is in line with those..
Hopefully your rent will be a little higher and you can argue in addition to the maintenence you have done for them they should compromise on raising your rent..
As always it depends on your lease terms and how aggressive you get depends on your tolerance for moving..Remember it might cost you a thousand just to move (moving tuck, new stuff to buy for a new place etc.)it adds up quick.

Also depends on how long you want your commute and if public schools are ok. I just bought in La Jolla and my commute to La Mesa is about 25 minutes (no traffic). Good public schools. Also look at:

Scripps ranchother areas are nice but middle and high schools are a bit sketchy in most San Diego Unified schoold district areas…
