    The problem with living elsewhere is that the prices are still higher compared to Santee for the same type of house. Also, where can you find new homes in SD county in the $600k range?

    I think a lot has to do with finding an affordable place to live in SD county. A lot of people are looking for an affordable place in a safe and “reasonable” neighborhood. Santee comes to mind if you look for a town that is improving. When you drive along Mission Gorge Rd. you can notice how Santee is growing into a nice town with many new stores and restaurants.
