ParticipantRefinancing has become more difficult now. A debt/income ratio of less than 48% is required even with high equity. It used to be much less strict.

Participant

I does take a special flavor of stupid to pay over $600k for a home in Santee….
What about paying over $900k as some people did 3 years ago in Skyranch? They must be brainless then…
I think that during the time of the housing bubble people thought that housing prices would never go down again. Even at $600k there is room for another 20% drop before we hit the bottom. I bet that those homes will sell in the mid- to high $400k in 2-3 years.

ParticipantSD Realtor: You are talking about a long decline and yet SD real estate is one of the few in the country that has actually improved. Do you think that we are going to have another significant drop in the next few years even in the more desirable areas in SD?

Participant

Actually all those “nice” features are very standard on most new construction and have been since about 2004.
Some don’t even sound like upgrades… ceramic tile surrounds in the bath/shower? And… oooo- weather stripping. That cinches it for me.
I guess in Santee everything is a nice upgrade….?
