jstoeszParticipant
I appreciate that vote of confidence. As crazy as it sounds I still aspire to be the man that my dad is. I know I should have outgrown that years ago.
Too add one corollary to your supposition, women must suffer at the hands of men. We too are a capricious breed, only in the ways of utility and not in the ways of that stupid stuff called feelings.
jstoeszParticipantI hate that stupid burger joint in OB…what the heck is that overcrowded scene called?
In the words of the great philosopher Yogi Berra (and a shout out to Taleb), “Nobody goes there any more, its too crowded.”

jstoeszParticipantHaha…I agree completely!
At least from my dad’s perspective who is the man you describe, that is completely true, but only half of the picture. Women are crazy indeed! But they can also make a man feel at home where ever he is. A tree has to be rooted in something after all.

jstoeszParticipant
you sound like a newly married dude. Check back in 15 years and we’ll see if you’re signing the same tune or if life has worn you down.
Many things that are worthwhile are easy. Indeed, I would argue, that if it’s painful, don’t do it.
I
May I add one other thing?
Painful is somewhat different than difficult. Things that are intrinsically and solely painful are stupid…self flagellation for example. Things that are painful by nature of them being difficult are quite different. Maybe I have some masochism in my personage, but most of the things I enjoy incorporate some form of pain and danger. Maybe that is why I love whitewater kayaking and marriage (among other things) so much.
