Participant
I bet those Louis Vuitton purses that re made either in China or Vietnam are of higher quality than your non name brand Made in USA.
That is debateable. Many designers are riding the wave of their reputation now, reaping the profits while reducing their quality/craftsmanship and manufacturing cots. Not sure about Louis Vuitton. That’s never been, nor never will be my price range.
If you’re talking about the copycat ones, that’s a different topic. I still question the quality as compared to something made here. Personally, I try not to be a brand follower, but I find it sad to buy a copycat for the name.

Participantouttamojo – once again, I agree w/CAR. Though my mom came here legally in the 50’s, she worked as a seamstress in slave conditions back in the day. We take for granted our work environment every day today, but back in the day, shops were tough to work in. Unions paved the way for humane working pay and conditions, until they got carried away as well. But the point is, your mom, my mom were glad to be in this country to work at any job, b/c if it were truly horrible, they would’ve stayed in the country they were in.
And as CAR said, I also do not condone illegal immigration. My mom came w/her family after the war. It took them over 10 years to try to get here. May take a while even today, but that’s the way it should be done.
And again, as CAR said, worker should fight to have standards up to ours, not bring ours back down to deplorable levels — including our economy.

But every item I’ve ever bought that was made in China has been of far worse quality than the same item that was once made in the USA. Can you think of something that is now made in China, that was once made here, that is of the same or better quality than the original, US-made product?I also want to support countries that have labor and environmental standards that are similar to — or better than — ours.
You know carenter, you really should redirect your attention to the corporate greedsters that are doing this versus “China”…
