ParticipantLike their mission.
“Girls Inc. delivers life-changing programs that inspire girls of all ages to be strong, smart, and bold. Research-based curricula, delivered by trained mentoring professionals, equip girls to achieve academically; lead healthy and physically active lives; manage money; navigate media messages; and discover an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math.”
Can’t help but wonder why this is not a focus for all students in public schools.
As an aside, my kid recently told me a joke floating around school: “I don’t know how to balance a checkbook, sign a lease, cook a meal, but I can solve a polynomial equation”
Makes ya think.

ParticipantNo tax. Just the honor system. Laissez-faire economy.
Think about it. When you were a kid, you received the free candy. Then you grow up and return the favor. Great tradition.
What about when kids from outside of your neighborhood get dropped off to hit up the better homes? Tax them or charge them a ‘participation fee’?
Tax or not, best part are the great costumes. Especially the female nurses, cats, ahem.:)

ParticipantDifferent types of grass require less water. The Marathon fescue variates tend to be thirsty.
You may save a bit on water with a burmuda hybrid. I can’t remember the name but there is a variety that does not go dormant during winter.
Take a look for yourself as it is growing outside the Offshore surf shop/fish and chips place in Carlsbad next to the beach.
I had a large putting green area once that was very level… at first. Over the years, the ground would settle and trees roots would lift areas. Finally gave up trying to keep it flat and put in a pool. Not sure it that was the best idea looking back!

Participant
while back, the WSJ did a feature on the Nordic model of welfare capitalism. The notion of 60% tax would freak anyone out, but how is it that the Norwegians et al seem happy with it.
Q: How do they pay for it?
A: Drilling in the north sea.I’d be happy too.

ParticipantNot to beat a non-issue, but I think the co-pay will keep some of the non-urgent doctor visits down.
Ever notice how some elderly folks seem to treat their trip to the post office, bank, market, doctor office as a personal visit. These are their only friends. Annoying as it can be, I give them a pass and wait quietly. We might me in their shoes someday.

ParticipantSince they have a 15yr warrantee they probably are already prepping well, but be sure they grind ( lightly) the concrete and you might consider some kind of slip additive. ie: No slip when wet. If they include a clear coat as well you are getting a good value.

ParticipantOne thing using a general is he is connected to the various trades and will save you the time vetting multiple vendors. You are paying for his contacts and experience.
If you are going to do it all at once, then I vote for a general to ride heard and make things happen fast and correctly. Otherwise, collect bids, check references, take you time and save some $ .
