I did a quick scan of your responses and decided that since my FICO score IS 850, whatever I am doing must work.take care.
Everyone, no matter how wealthy is just a sneeze from bad credit. Back in the 80’s Pac Bell left our ads out of the phone book for a year we had NO income and $8000 a month in fixed overhead. Guess what? An 850 Fico can turn into a 500 Fico with a single lawsuit, illness, injury or accident. OK, I learned a lesson about all your eggs in a single basket, but then it could have been something else. Think about it.
Seriously, I hope you keep doing the right thing, but IF you hold debt of ANY kind, I reckon you have a high chance of defaulting in the future as things get progressively worse. If that means ALL Americans are therefore unemployable then what?

Participant

I’m not so sure. If taxes were raised to 100% no one would “bother” to go to work and tax revenue would be $0.00
If taxes were reduced to 0% everyone would be pretty happy in the private sector for a while and taxes would be reduced to $0.00
Wildly incorrect.
US Marginal tax rates in the 1950’s were 90%, lots of people worked hard to make millions.
In the Nordic countries, top tax rates were over 90%, people still worked hard.
Soviet Russia effectively had 100% taxes and still people worked to get Grad degrees, med degrees,
become engineers, scientists…..
Hmmm, In UK in the 60’s most of their best minds left for America where they were paid better and were taxed less. The impact was disasterous!!
The Soviet Union, correct me if I am wrong, but did they not go bankrupt?
The question is if you want to live in a free society and have a choice where your income is spent , or have it spent for you by someone who knows what is good for you.
I am not advocating 0% tax, since obviously we would quickly see anarchy. California raised sales tax and collects less income. Less products and cars are sold as a result, less income tax is collected and eventually more tax is collected on less sales resulting in a net loss.

ParticipantHeck my company does background checks and checks GPAs and verifies degrees issued – and has for more than a decade… so screwing up your first year of college CAN follow you for a long time.
Hmmm, I attended a private college in UK back in the early 80’s. Apart from my certificate, I have a hell of a time with these kind of checks and have less patience for them.
