ParticipantBTW, I do consider whether to negotiate a legitimate question. It’s not a simple question. I think it does help us if we approach it as part of a larger strategy.
Also, Bolton is definitely a douchebag. He’s in the running for Douchebag of the Bush Presidency, right there with Brownie and Gonzo. Cheney will take it though.

ParticipantOkay, then. Let’s look at the facts.
John Bolton is a Neocon. Right?
Bolton: “It is an article of faith for Obama, and many others on the left in the U.S. and abroad, that it is the United States that is mostly responsible for the world’s ills.”
Looking for the facts… Help me out.
What I see is a specious accusation, a partisan hit peice. No facts. It’s McCarthy-esque in that it’s designed to link Obama with big-bad leftie, commie, pinko, etc. No doubt there are people on the ‘left’ who don’t like the USA. Tim McVeigh did a number on us from the right. Obama is a sitting elected senator, doesn’t have anything to do with either. Stop spreading lies.
As for the statement itself, it’s a great example of what the partisans have done to our country in the past decade, putting slimy talking points before substance. Democrats are American citizens. If we do get in a serious war, are you willing to go to the fucking mat for the other half of this country that doesn’t agree with everything you do? We’re going to need everybody if it happens. That’s all I can say.
Meantime, if you have something worth discussing, like “What happens when Israel bombs Iran, and Iran tries to shut down Hormuz?”, that would be a good place to start. We’ve got some serious shit going on in this country.

ParticipantNone of this precludes engagement along diplomatic fronts, which ADDS pressure and flexibility to our approach. In fact, I’d suggest that a rigorous diplomatic program serves important intelligence and international relations functions, agreements are only a part of the picture. Might be in our interest to conduct negotiations but never ‘agree’.
Finally, surveyor: you win “DOUCHEBAG of the DAY”!
“It is an article of faith for Obama, and many others on the left in the U.S. and abroad, that it is the United States that is mostly responsible for the world’s ills.”.
Huh? Right. Whatever. Good reminder to me why I’m not a Republican anymore. Most of us, we see through the lying partisanship and talking points. We’re not dumb. So keep spewing like a DOUCHEBAG… Every outburst helps the cause. Can’t wait for November.
PS. Spectator sports, I don’t like Hillary (or Bill for that matter), but it might have been fun to watch all the right-wing nutjobs squirm through a Hillary presidency…
