ParticipantI have an idea on how we can save taxpayer money, pay for both Iraq and Democratic social programs together.
We could release all the Raider fans from jail.
Prisons are expensive, ya’ know.

ParticipantDoes anybody here understand how the City of San Diego has managed to avoid declaring bankruptcy?
Off-book accounting gymnastics, it would seem to me. SD deftly avoiding bankruptcy will be like Bernanke maneuvering us out of a credit meltdown.
Interesting comment re: WPA programs, Allan. Maybe it would pay for itself. Keep the jobs, production and investment here at home, benefit the regional ecomomies (versus overseas).

ParticipantAecetia, I liked your post.
It’s easy to vilify people these days. Look at me with jfiq. He’s always posting ridiculous topics. But he’s a Jets fan, right? So he’s got to be at least half-cool. But as Jets fans, we must be losers, according to Allan.
See how easy we got stereotyped? For the Raider Nation, Jets fans all walk around with bags on their heads. Go figure! We don’t. Tailgating at the Meadowlands is 10 times more cool than taking AirBart to the Coliseum, which is gay.
Nothing against gays, BTW. Or San Francisco. Or the Raiders. Or Raider fans. Just demonstrating how easy it is to stereotype… π
Seriously though, I do think we’ve trended a bit too far from ‘socially responsible’ government. Tax system is ridiculously unfair, uneven “definition of income” and full of loopholes, especially on the corporate side.
Man, this is a good thread.
Waiting for Allan’s comeback… “Jets fans are ___ ”
And I admit, we pretty much suck. Every year. Go Jets!
