Thanks for the link. I found this section especially distressing ..
The commodity ETFs weren’t living up to their hype, and the reason had to do with a word Wolf had never heard before. As he browsed the blogs, he says, “I’m seeing people talking about something called contango. Nobody would define it.” Wolf called his broker and asked about contango. “I don’t know what it is,” he replied. He called his other broker, at Charles Schwab. “He didn’t know either,” Wolf says. “He said he’d ask around.”
It always pisses me off, that complete morons get to become brokers/investment advisers on wall street and tend to easily raise millions of dollars to manage! It is like a blind leading a blind!

ETFs are not a commodities, but they are taxed the same as stocks on gain (long term vs short term). [/quote]It is actually more complicated than that. If an ETF holds commodities (e.g. Gold ETF – GLD), all capital gains are short term, regardless of how long you hold it.
Some commodity ETFs are structured as partnerships which means you get a K-1 and can have all the fun you want with it.

ParticipantThe main issue of going with tankless is that you will probably need a bigger gas line and better venting than what you have. Which may make the installation more expensive.
Remember that now to install even a tank heater, you need a permit from the city and a visit from an inspector to make sure it is done right. If you end up doing something to the gas line to go tankless, probably another permit/inspection will be required…

ParticipantFYI,
Calculated Risk had a plot showing correlation between 30-year fixed and 10-year treasury rates. Thanks to google, here it is.

Using this you can infer what 30-year fixed would have been if you knew what 10-year treasury is…
