ParticipantThis property three units down from my home, went for $560k. I am sure a lot of people here will think that it is way over priced b/c of the road noise but it is very nice inside.

Another closed deal. Same plan in the same area as the two properties mentioned above. This house is almost identical to the Raven Ridge house as it is also backing to CalleCristobal. It is in slightly better condition but probably shouldn’t be $43K more, or $53K more if we are taking in the $10K cash deal that the Raven Ridge buyer got from the bank.[/quote]

ParticipantThanks UCGal,
I slept in house for the first time last night and I barely notice the noise if I don’t pay attention. I guess I am more tolerant to noise than some. I have lived in a similar home with road noise in the past. Nevertheless, I will install double-pane windows and patio door for the back side of the house.

ParticipantActually I bought the Raven Ridge pt house. $63,000 is a huge difference in budget for many people. With 10% down, we can’t afford anything more than $463,000. If I had a choice I would have bought the Trailerbrush house too. That back yard is really nice. Road noise is much less too.
Edit:..I also got $10k cash for closing costs so it helped. Not sure if the person who bought the other property got any cash.

ParticipantI am about to move to a house with its back to Calle Cristobal Blvd in Mira Mesa. Calle Cristobal is no freeway but I have seen people driving 50+ mph on this street. I know it will be noisy. I have lived in a similar house for 4 years. You will get used to it. However, double pane windows and doors are required. These windows and doors can cost up to $10,000 for a house.
