ParticipantI have purhased two kayaks from craigslist in the past year. I got both for a total of $400, plus two paddles and life vests, though I didnt really want the life vests. (I already had my own).
My advice is to find a kayak style you like, and look atleast daily. Good deals go quick, and crappy ones just hang.
You also need to remember that it is summer now, and that is when people actually use the kayaks. Deals may be few and far between.

ParticipantBlech, I worry about Obama, but not for any of the above junk.
Most of this is party like crap like “You scare me beacuse you use ‘extortion tactics against banks and corporations”, as if that was somehow something only he did. Barney Frank has been doing it for YEARS and YEARS with home loans and such. Paulson basically inprisioned the CEO’s of the big 9 back in October until they signed on to the TARP.
Or
” You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.”
That is one of the most un-american things I have ever heard.
I worry about Obama because he doesnt have to compromise if he doesnt wanna. There is no effective check on him right now, not even the media. What was that line, ‘absoulte power corrupts absoultely’.
I worry about Obama because we have man who has really no leadership experience or buisness experience leading the biggest financial melt down in 60+ years. So far he hasnt done bad, but that was the easy part. We are very good about spending money to clean up the mess, we are very bad about avoiding future messes and slowing the flow of money when the time comes.
I worry about Obama due to the cult of personality that surrounds him. He signs a anti tobacco bill, and talks about himself in the process. People swoon over his government sponsored date in NY. He really can’t fail now, cause in the eyes of his supporters (read media) he inherited a unteniable situtation AND is already inspiring because he is already the first black president. He is elequent, good looking and likeable. If in 4 years he has totally failed, it will still be Bush’s fault. If he succedes, then it is all him. Heads I win, tails you loose.
But the above stuff is crap lead by the biggest load of all in the first line:
‘You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.’Obviously Lou, you havnt been paying attention.

ParticipantMore evidence that BLS birth-death data for May was mostly just BS.
-“The Labor Department said the number of mass layoff actions – defined as job cuts involving at least 50 people from a single employer – increased to 2,933 in May from 2,712 in April, resulting in the loss of 312,880 jobs.
It was the largest loss of jobs connected to mass layoffs on records dating to 1995.”

I just find it hard to believe that job cuts are slowing when large layoffs are increasing. I suppose you could argue that small buisness are pickup up the slack, creating jobs while bigger buisness are cutting, but I kinda doubt it. Not in the biggest downturn since the depression, and when credit, the life blood of most small buisness, is disapearing.

Participant
Of course we shouldn’t get involved in the issues of other countries…
I mean it’s not like…
1. A bunch of guys flew planes into two buildings in New York.
2. Or blew up a bunch of trains in Spain.
3. Or just today said if they got Pakistan’s nuclear weapons they would use them against us.
4. Or are trying to acquire nuclear weapons and plan to fire a ballistic missile towards Hawaii.
Of course not. If we just stick our heads in the sand and don’t activity take a roll in the world today all of these problems will go away.
I mean afterall we should all behave like Neville Chamberlain. That really worked out well for Europe.
The naivity of people never ceases to amaze me.
Look I am no surpport of George Bush. He did plenty wrong. But Obama is trying to use the current situation to push through a huge program of increase government spending and doing it at a time when everybody is more worried about paying their bills then focusing on what Washington is doing.
We *CANNOT* run ourselves in tens of trillions of dollars of debt and expect it to work.
With all that said I think everyone in DC doesn’t give a crap about us and that being a politician has become more about getting re-elected than serving the country.
Dont bother trying to bring this kinda stuff up in a thread like this. That isnt the point of a thread like this. The point of a thread like this is to blow off steam, fingerpoint, get angry, insult “them” and their “lack of understanding or leadership”, and get those who agree with you to reinforce your views. Same as the threads it rails against. It is differenton in target of the furry only.
Hopefully these threads serve the purpose that people can then speak civially on othter threads and actually exchange ideas and reason together.
