Participant
I agree about the vaccine. The testing time keeps being extended. Is there a problem?
No, just delusional government at its best. Swine flu broke in, what was it(?) late April(?), something like that. Only a politican could actually promise (and believe the promise) that we could identify the virus and its traits, identify a proper way to deliver the vaccine, and then mass produce it and have it safty tested and ready for delivery by September of the same year. Science and our production technology just doesnt move that fast.
As for the OP, virus’s like this have shown a tendency to do really bad things the season after they are first detected. Please see the Spanish Flu outbreak. Shouldn’t the gov try to educate people on healhy habits and treatment options BEFORE there is a problem? Arnt we always ragging on them for not getting ahead of the game when it would have really mattered, and then ragging on them when they missed the boat if they didn’t do the right things in the beginning? I have seen alot more fear mongering from the media than the government personally. I think what you are seeing is a struggling media trying to sell newspapers or bump up ad revinue more than a governement selling doom and gloom to tax you more.

ParticipantGet your stuff off the property, then who cares if it is extended or not. This has a good chance of happening, and it is alot better to start looking now then when you have a 24 hour notice. DOnt rely on a banks kindness to a friend to protect your stuff.
As for your friends loan mod, if he isn’t in the black right now, and I mean able to afford his house pre-bubble without problem, then he wont get the mod no matter what. Why would a bank modify a loan when that person has no chance to repay the loan. That is regardless of what the property is actually worth. If they know he cant afford it, why shouldnt they try to get whatever principal they can back and call it a loss? What does strining it out hoping he gets back on his feet do for them?

ParticipantI keep trying to write responses to this tread, and deleateing them without posting becuase whatever I write just isnt right.
I can say this though, I think everyone should date/look around and not marry their first sweetheart. There is no way of knowing who you are and what works for you without trying each option out alittle. That doesnt mean you have to sleep around or anything. Just that what we think we want as kids/teens/collegeaged is so often totally wrong for us long term. All most all of the ‘sweethearts’ couples I know are also the most bitter and unhappy couples I know. I am not sure that people can really know love without experiencing somekinda pain first.

Participantcabal,
I appologize for misunderstanding the word ‘spoil’ in a thread about why people have unrealistic expecatations of wealth and happyness. Your children aside, I still feel my comment stands. We have a nasty habit of lavashing everything we can on our children, and then wondering why they expect everything of the rest of the world.
It seems you are doing well by your children, avoiding the much more common definition of ‘spoiling without hesitation’.DWCAP
