ParticipantJust to add to AN’s comment:
My response to the whiners would be “I always thought the American Dream was giving your kids a better life than you had. I dont see the words ‘morgage’, ‘house’, or ‘loan’ in that statement anywhere.”
This is why the government should be supporting schools and child health care, not McMansions and dead banks.

ParticipantAN,
I had a whole long post about how I thought it would take to 2014-15 and why, with the cavat that they stop this nonsense now ( HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, right…..), but decided to deleate it and just post that little piece. Glad to hear you agree with me.
I guess we tend to run in cycles about these things. I was born into the Regan Revolution (which had been born out of the bad times of the 70’s) about free markets and small government, so it is hard for me to admit it, but I am wondering if we have not passed into a new government phylosophy that will last until the next big economic upheaval. They may talk a good talk now, but I dont see Senators giving up their new found power willingly.

ParticipantDoes anybody else get the feeling that the AIG bonus outrage is all really just a cover? As long as we are all screaming mad at AIG, we cant be screaming mad at Congress, Obama (though I doubt we will get there for another 6 or so years) or the FED bungling of it all. So we rant about bad contracts written long before the Q4 blow up in the markets. We threaten to hang AIG executive’s children with piano wire (what did the kid do again????), and we vent on blogs and talk shows about how it isnt all fair and such.
All the while we dont question the FED printing another Trillion today to manipulate the markets so we can kick the can alittle farther down the road. We dont question the seeming inability of the Obama administration to appoint people who are not “good old boys” or crooks. We dont question why we are following Dodd and the other ‘leaders’ in Congress who are just as responsible for this mess as anyone in AIG.
I feel like I am watching a sacrifical lamb before the slaughter.

ParticipantOh I think this will go on alot longer than 2010-11. The high inflation, socialist society where the Gov owns atleast of piece of everything seems more and more likly to me.
