ParticipantWhy would this put a floor under housing? The only way that would happen is if the real problem was that good credit risks couldnt get loans. This isnt the problem. Good credit risks, people with jobs, and real DP’s, and good credit histories, can get loans that historically speaking are retarded for the banks to be doing. But they are there, loaning away, at 4.5% again.
Or I guess if the banks didnt learn their lesson and started lending to all warm bodies regardless then housing will have a floor put under it. But we would be right back here again soon enough, and then people would get linched.
No, this is all about stopping the overcorrection from trend. We will revert to normal relationships compared to incomes.
All the other stuff is BS from/for the guys who bought Congress calling in their chips.DWCAP

ParticipantI have no doubt that this is more urban myth than real history. If for no other reason than all the students who studied hard and didnt get A’s would go to the dean and complain and this little experiment would be over. Even though there is a huge error rate, schools still attempt to use grades to denote how well students understood the material, not as a reward for studying.
Fun thought experiment though. The problem here is the assumption that the students are lazy and have NO natual aptitude for the material. I had plenty of classes where I really enjoyed the material and have kept up with it afterwards just for my own reward. I have known plenty of people who “could just play”, to borrow a phrase, no matter how little they studied. So the lesson then would be that Socialism could work with the right sinario/setup?

ParticipantI just wanna know how Obama’s TARP plan is different than Bush’s original TARP plan. No one is using the words Troubled Assest Releaf Plan anymore, but how is this one different? Other than the Bush’s was $750billion and Obama’s is $1Trillion.
Were gonna use private money too, yada yada yada. I was totally unaware that there was so much private money just sitting out there looking to buy morgage backed securities and that banks were ok letting them go at the very reduced prices, cementing their losses. Why werent they doing this on their own?
(I didnt read the details today, havent got a chance yet, but I am hoping to use some pigg readers as a filter and find some real nitty gritty about this stuff instead of a fluffer piece written directly from the press release.)
