The property is around 1400 square feet, a very large 2 BR 2.5 bath property by my standards (with a 2 car garage). Also comes with all appliances (refrigerator, full size w/d….).
I have been following the craigslist and zilpy site where the rentals seem to be in the same range with what was quoted for this property.
The weird thing is that there are bigger places renting in UTC for cheaper.
dumbrenterParticipantHaving some humor helps in these situations. I am surrounded by co-workers and friends who simply loathe the current executive while I have a soft corner and a little admiration for him.
My friends are my friends in spite of their political beliefs. I typically end up as a target because I guess, they cannot vent it before the man himself. I respect their beliefs and never ever try to “convert” them.It is just politics. Just smile and take it easy. Not worth breaking relationships for or even fretting about.

dumbrenterParticipantThanks Surveyor
The zilpy site was very useful. The $1900 rent I mentioned is within the range of rents I see there.
I was under the assumption that the rental market should be cheaper than say, 2 years ago due to lack of potential renters, i.e. those who were alive and breathing managed to become homeowners instead of staying renters except a few cases like me. The lack of demand plus a glut of supplies should have resulted in lower rents.
Both the UT reference and the zilpy.com link contradict my assumption.
Could you let me know why you think rents will not be going down?

dumbrenterParticipantAmerican is already blaming the government if you read arpey’s rants.
Airlines with decent management that can read, write and think will HAVE to account for a scenario where the cost of fuel increases. Rising cost of fuel is not an unexpected event anymore and somebody as dumb as I am would have mentioned that even 4 years ago. Rising fuel prices affect all other airlines too. Then how come they are showing profits? Southwest, if I remember right was the first one to get into hedging business in fuel. International airlines copied this method and perfected it further. Here are some dumb questions from a dumb renter about airline business:
(1) How is Southwest surviving by raising their ticket prices? Even I noticed that their fares are more expensive than a year ago.
(2) How is it that international carriers make money on the pacific routes and fill their seats while United and American go empty? How is it that these routes are considered lucrative by international airlines, but no so by US based carriers? They all pay for their fuel in open market, don’t they?Maybe these asian airlines fill their planes because they provide “service”? A quick check shows that they are actually more expensive to fly pacific routes than either United or American.
