ParticipantFor the future, for anybody who wants to get the legitimate real ISOs: look up “Digital River Microsoft Download links”.
Amazon has a store for the ISOs for when customers buy Windows from them. You can install without a key and run it for some time period before activating.Doofrat

ParticipantI just got new lenses for my glasses and my crappy vision plan doesn’t cover much this year. I always wear contacts and only wear glasses for the half hour before bed after I take my contacts out, or first thing in the morning on weekends before putting contacts in, or on a plane, that’s it.
I opted to not get the anti reflective coating and just got my glasses back.
Let me tell you the anti reflective coating is worth every cent. Even with how little I wear the glasses, I wish I had gotten it. It’s a no brainer if you wear them daily.
I see light reflections from light sources from both the front and the back due to the curved surface. Extremely annoying. I can live with it because of how little I wear them, but if I wore these daily, I’d opt for new lenses. And no, I’m not an optometrist.Doofrat
ParticipantNice! Enjoy that Cramer pump. I picked it up for 20.58 just over 2 years ago and need to lighten up on oil a bit, so what do I do? get rid of my best performing stock of course. I also sold WMT at 60 in 2012, so don’t listen to me ๐

ParticipantI’ve got an open order to sell VLO at $49 so one of us is wrong ๐
BTW, an MLP means you get a Schedule K-1 (probably won’t get it until April if you get one at all for this year).
Depending on how much you bought, you might not want to deal with the K-1 headache each year if you only bought a small amount. It’s a really confusing form in my opinion.
Also, my VLO sale is just trying to limit my Oil stock exposure on this upswing.

ParticipantIf you’ve ever worked for a Pharmaceutical company, you’d know that the only Pharmaceutical company that would with hold a cure for cancer is a Pharmaceutical company that doesn’t have a Sales/Marketing dept.

ParticipantAnd why doesn’t anybody talk about “Mr. Jeffreys” who was seen just before the whole thing and spoke with several people, yet nobody has stepped up to elaborate on what was said. Why is nobody talking about this?

ParticipantC’mon, you live in California and you can’t find a greedier lawyer than this guy focusing on a deal for a replacement truck?!?
December 20, 2012 at 5:48 PM in reply to: OT: How hard is it to file a small claims court case? #756702Doofrat
Participant
I have also heard that it’s nigh on impossible to actually enforce judgements like that against private citizens…
Out of interest, what does “DMV pulled her license” mean? The lady presumably will keep her physical license (and can continue to use it for, say, ID purposes), so it’s only a problem if she’s driving and pulled over by a cop. Right?
If she’s driving without insurance already, what’s the diff with driving without a license, too?The difficulty in actually enforcing the small claims court judgement is the main thing which would ever stop me spending the time and effort to take someone to small claims, so I’m interested to hear more about getting the DMV to “pull” someone’s license…
Can I call SDGE and get them to “pull” their utilities, too? ๐tb
Because the DMV requires every driver to be financially responsible for their vehicle and the damage resulting from it, and having a judgement against them for financial responsibility indicates otherwise, they get their license suspended. Other stuff like not reporting certain accidents in a timely manner will also get your license suspended.
Problem is that once your license is suspended, your insurance is not valid.
In California at least, if you get caught without insurance, your car will be impounded and rightfully so.
Now if she moved to another state, I’d guess that if her insurance company found she had a suspended license in California, they could use that to deny a claim, but I’m just guessing.Doofrat
ParticipantHey Flu,
What kind of system do you have/recommend?Doofrat
ParticipantI was a witness once and it really helped the guy out. Guy was in front of me and the light changed. It took him another second or so to go and bam, guy running the light from the right takes off his bumper.
They pulled into a gas station and I had to go around the block to get back.
I pull in and the guy in front of me is all happy to see me because the light runner is saying the guy in front of me ran the light.
Gave him my contact info, but never got a call. I’m assuming that once the light runner was confronted with a witness, he had to take responsibility.I’ve thought about this a lot lately and have been thinking about getting a cheap dash cam that mounts on the rear view mirror or something to act as a witness in a case like this.

It could be worse. You could be living in Long Island without power for 3 weeks…LIPA is state owned by the way…..Oops, did I say that…
Wow the arrogance of some unions would be comical if the results weren’t so severe. And I thought gouging in the middle of a disaster was illegal.

ParticipantLet me get this straight:
We’re in the midst of a really bad recession. High school kids are competing with 50 year old’s for jobs.
These guys are making 40K a year (with access to health care and pensions) operating a machine that squirts filling into Twinkies. And they decide this is a good time to strike?!? -
