ParticipantI would NOT invest with them. My money was NOT preserved. It was lost big time by them.
And my broker was the managing director of their L.A. office.
After our money was lost he said he could not talk to us because he “has high blood pressure”.
Stay far, far away.disimilar1
ParticipantI have a similar issue with a RE Agent who leased a property for me long ago and had it in the contract they were entitled to renewal commissions.
The agency was sold but the agent claimed the contract was assigned over to him. He did cough up an assignment letter after much pulling of teeth. (signed by his friend, the broker who had owned the co that was sold).
Is something like this valid?disimilar1
ParticipantRe: purchasing a home warranty – sounds like a good idea. However how do you get them to repair or collect from the company?

ParticipantThank you CA renter. We were CA renters too from 2004 – end of ’09.
The problem is that I do not think my situation is all that unusual. Anyone of the sandwich generation could have these issues. Kids in college, elderly parents. Parents that outlive their savings. All it takes is one spouse to get ill to reach the tipping point. Many medical services we may want are not covered, especially alternative such as acupuncture, homeopathy, preventative on going care. Copays for medicine that used to be $5 when we didn’t need them are $45 now that we do. It can add up real fast.Thank you for your good wishes. I cherish those.

ParticipantI retired at 50. You do not have enough, nor did I as it turned out. Life can throw you curve balls – things you cannot even imagine happening.
I hope you do not think you will spend less when you retire because that is not likely. Eventually you or a family member will need medical services that may not be covered or fully covered. It adds up – the slow drip.
Life in this world is too uncertain now – even if your home is fully paid for.
I retired early after an illness woke me up. Life is precious. So is the ability to sustain yourself.
Here are some things I did not count on happening:
September 2008
The resulting BK of one of my credit tenants (100 year old company) and 2 other tenants.
A family member gets a devastating long term illness.
Parents need help and father with Alzheimers comes to live with us for a while.
uninsured loss due to exclusions in policy.
The travel was great during the first few years. You could accomplish that with an extended vacation. I wish you the best.disimilar1

ParticipantI know more about the subject than I care to. Run don’t walk away. Mold testing is an imperfect science since we cannot even identify all the molds that exist, therefore we cannot test for all of them.
mold can become mycotoxins and cancer causing – look it up. mycotoxins cannot be destroyed as one doctor told me.
nobody wants to give up on a house and move. sometimes the environmental cure is the only cure.
If you cannot breathe due to mold its probably aspergillus which can get inside your lungs and form a fungal ball.
the musty smell is a warning.
your LL will let you out of your lease most likely because he cannot fix it, not because he does not want to fix it.disimilar1
